MemberI think i know how to get ride of the recurring DeadAIM registration!
When you buy a copy of DeadAIM you get sent an email containing the serial, your email, and the program contained in a Setup Launcher.
When you open the setup launcher the launcher extracts the windows installer package to C:WINDOWSDownloaded Installations{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}DeadAIM . That is not the actual address because (x) represents a unique 32 didget code that contains or is an encripted version of your serial number.
This number is also contained in the properties of of the windows installer package under the summery tab in the revision number box. When you run the DeadAIM setup that number is moved into the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareJDennisDeadAIMDAInstallWhen You enter your serial number and email into the registration box if the serial does not match the revision number every time you restart Windows after a set time period DeadAIM will ask you for your serial and email.
Therfor if you want the DeadAIM registration to stop reappering go and buy it and stop being an asshole and making us pay more for DeadAIM!
Please note that if you do have a pireted version of DeadAIM you will have to delete the registry entries at
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareJDennisDeadAIM
befor you install your legall copy of DeadAIM.
Also write down your revision number as well as your email and serial number because if you lose DeadAim you can always enter your revision number into HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareJDennisDeadAIMDAInstallOctober 12, 2003 at 5:37 pm #56622Charles
MemberA mod will be here to take this off the board as BBB doesn’t support “piracy” here. Oh well…I will see if it works.

Memberi just realised made a mistake, when i said “That is not the actual address because (x) represents a unique 32 didget code that contains or is an encripted version of your serial number.” I was incorrect.
SorryOctober 13, 2003 at 9:23 am #56650prncssshckr
MemberI’m having the same problem with the popup window. However I have a legal copy. I paid the $5 and downloaded the Setup Launcher and everything. But I still get the popup every 3-4 reboots. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Because I was on the J.Denis website and he is quoted as saying there is no flaw in DeadAim that would cause this to happen.

MemberI’m not the asshole who downloaded what I had no idea there was a fee for. In my original post, I pointed out that my 12-year old daughter downloaded something that she had no idea there was a fee for. Finally, after uninstalling it and having it reappear several times, (while my daughter was out of town) it’s finally gone. All name-calling has been greatly appreciated.

Participantthat guys right.. deadaim will only show that popup if the serial number is not a valid paid for serial.. it will work if you got a valid not cracked serial.. this was confirmed by the maker of deadaim

Shizna, i dont see where there is piracy. Wetdog was simply saying that if you get a legal version of Deadaim you will have to delete the illegal registry key because as it says on the deadaim forums, the installer supposedly has a serial number also. And when its installed, it will place its serial in the registry. And if you enter a correct serial, it wont work with the serial, making you re-enter it continously. Or thats what they say.

Memberprncssshckr did you have an illegal copy of DeadAIM on your computer befor you loaded the legel version?
If so uninstall DeadAIM
Then delete the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareJDennisDeadAIMDAInstall
Then reinstall your legal copy of DeadAIM
If this was the problem please read the posts in detail next time. ThanksOctober 14, 2003 at 10:19 pm #56649prncssshckr

MemberOh

MemberI know. Thats just absolute crap to me too. I still have the email that he sent me. I checked the forums on his site and he claims that there is no bug in DeadAim that would cause it to happen. But so many people are having the same problem I am. I don’t know. I may just uninstall it.

Memberprncssshckr, it doesnt say anywhere that he says there is no bug. The moderator even stated that this problem would be fixed in Deadaim 4.1. And, Jdennis wont just accuse you of have a illegal copy. they keep track of who bought it and who didnt. You can contact him and get help, a email is posted on the jdennis forums.
