MemberOk so this is the second day of BETA testing and i’m uninstalling it.It took forever to sign in,it looked like it couldnt connect and now i’m talking to a friend who says i’m offline for him when my messenger tells me i’m online, the system tray alerts and new IM windows are not on top of other aplications anymore and the status freezes.
I say leave the BETA testing for others,i want my messenger back!April 5, 2006 at 6:18 pm #134787Dermot
Participantmost these ad’s are been called from the registry.
they can be altered o call from nowhere or another location online or local.
i just make mine go to somewhere that dont exsist.
i made Addestroy in delphi to quickly do this for me while you have messenger off.
it’s here http://shadow-corp.net/files/ads/ on my old site layout
i believe it should still work with latest build, i will update and check later.

Participantok, i downloaded the newest beta and this is what i have found…
7.5.0.647 newest features i can find..
1. now have a phone in and phone out option bar just above Y! music cast on the buddy list.
2. if Y! Music cast is not on you now have a Y! Games option at bottom of buddy list
3. New Ad at bottom of buddy list, i have figured out how to make this permanently blank white but not how to close it si it doesnt appear at all.
4. New options on right top side of pm boxes for mail sending and text messaging (mail option now asks you for e-mail addess of buddy) and systematically open’s your default mail program with e-mail set in box)
5. it likes to crash a lot…lol
if you use my ad destroy go to its newly made registry strings and add the following in the section
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareYahoopagerYUrl
and right click empty area on right and pick add new and pick string value
add this
Buddylist Adurl with data file://C:nobars.html
that will render the ad on your buddylist just blank white and stays that way.

MemberQuote:5. it likes to crash a lot…lolTrue, I usually keep my Yahoo! IM running all the time. Sometimes the application crashes overnight without me doing anything. Only after a mouseover on the systray do I realize that the application has quit:confused:

MemberSo there’s another BETA version out.The file says version 2006.4.12.1
Anyway i installed it and surprisingly it works a bit better than the previous version.Didnt crash til now and everything seems to be fine. The ads still annoy me though, why they decided to put them in the messenger is beyond me.Anyhoo i downloaded that ad destroyer from Dermots page and it did remove the ad with no problems but the space where the ads used to be is still there..Anyway i’m still waiting for the final version. One without problems or ads ๐April 25, 2006 at 6:16 pm #134797Eagle_Kiwi
Member?!? Where do you find this one, Strigoi ?
I tried the normal http://messenger.yahoo.com for “Beta”, which gives me the 388k “msgr75us.exe” installer – then when I start it it says I already have the “latest version” !?!
(I have 7.5.0.647).
2006.4.12.1 is the file version of the installer itself, but I’d guess that once installed it still gives YM 7.5.0.647 – but oh HELL, WHY can’t Yahoo TELL you what version of YM you are downloading ?? ๐ ๐กAha! But now I’ve found THIS , which has given me the 8MB file for 7.5.0.811 – which installed just fine (for me) over the top of my old one.
As yet the only difference I see is a new “No Incoming Calls” at item#2 on the “Messenger” dropdown.April 26, 2006 at 12:15 pm #134803Strigoi
MemberWell this is the page where download starts from http://messenger.yahoo.com/download.php;_ylt=AgxOMUNKMAXaDmObgEeLK8NwMMIF
if you go see the properties of the new found installer, what version does it say it is?
And by the way your “HERE” link doesnt work.April 26, 2006 at 5:08 pm #134804Strigoi
MemberI’m downloading the file,Eagle-Kiwi and i can already tell you its not the same. The one i downloaded was called msgr75us.exe and this one is called ymsgr75us.exe.I’ll install it to see what’s changed but cant you give the exact link to it cause when you click on “THIS” you get the download straight away and no page.

ParticipantYeah 7.5 latest released non beta is 7,5,0,811
You can as i posted above blank out the ad but havent messed with it enough to completely remove it or close it up.
indeed the 811 build is a lot more stable than the others but still some little glitches here and there…however i dont think 7.5 will live long..lol.
i’ll look more into the ad situation later.

MemberYou can use the file in the attached .zip to remove the advertisement. Run the reg file with your messenger closed. You can turn off the “phone stuff” at the bottom of Yahoo! Messenger 7.5 by going to Messenger>Show/Hide> And turning off the Yahoo! Voice Bar.
Edited the attachment and removed the patched dll file since it was not needed since what it did can be accomplished by the above instructions.

Just replace the res_msgr.dll in your C:Program FilesYahoo!Messenger folder with the one in this .zip and run the .reg file. (Do all this with Yahoo! Messenger closed), and you’re good to go.OH I LOVE YOU!!!This is great,it takes away the whole ad box and the “phone out” “phone in” line.I had already used Dermot’s ad removal program but the place that held the ad was still there and it bothered me,but now its so cool!!! ๐
Thanks alot Nikolas!May 11, 2006 at 10:39 am #134811nikolas
MemberNo problem, also… you don’t have to use the patched dll file I made. All you have to do is go to Messenger>Show/Hide and turn off the Yahoo! Voice Bar. I just realised this right after I submitted this post. So in the future people, it’s only required to run the .reg file. You can turn the other stuff off via the Show/Hide menu.
