MemberGood work Dermot. 😀
Is the chat transition ad blocked with this Dermot, I seem to remember you mentioning finding a way around it.
Oh, and BTW, it’s spelled polygamy. 😉
Cheers! 😀

ParticipantNot on that exe, but i been messing with a copied exe from the yahoo folder that i been experimenting disabling stuff and will update when i see a beneficial way of stopping it, theres a timer in it thats handles it that i been tinkering with and wanna test it out a bit more.

MemberCool man, keep us updated. 😀 I, myself, has been trying to look into ways of completely surpassing the chat transition.

ParticipantWell thats what i wanna do as it only pops up once during the one session and its turned off till next session login, i want to find that switch lol.

MemberHummm. That makes me wonder. Once the switch is found, I wonder if it’d be possible to make it seem like it’s always on the next session. *brainstorms*

MemberDermot i’m sorry but again i have to tell you your Ad Removal messes up YM!First of all i’m sorry i didnt to take pictures when it happened,i uninstalled it all and reinstalled it and i’m not gonna screw my YM again just to take pictures so please take my word for what i’m saying. So thing is yes the ad removal does remove the ads but when you resize the main window the voice credit on the bottom disappears or gets larger with it.Another thing is that when i open two YM instances (or what ever they’re called) the resized one wont size back.I accept, they might be small annoyances but they still exist. So could you review your Ad Removal or can somebody post another solution for removing ads?Thank you 🙂

MemberHave you tryed unchecking “Yahoo! Voice Bar” from Messenger > Show/Hide? That’s if, you don’t use it.
And no, there isn’t any other way of doing it right now.

ParticipantI’m not exactly sure what you mean by voice bar getting bigger?
The latest Yahoo Messengers treeview messenger buddy list does not resize with the form anymore..
I’ve enabled the voice and tried to recreate what you’re trying to say but its not happening to me and my screen resolution is 1280 x 1024
does anybody else have the problem Strigoi is having? im sure a good few have downloaded it.

MemberHmm then can i at least ask for a “non poligamy” version of the ad removal?

ParticipantStrigoi,
If you move the bottom edge of the main window up over whatever you have in the lower part (voice bar and plug-ins) these items get masked and don’t move up with the bottom edge. This is because these little windows stick to the ad window and the ad window to the bottom edge, now the ad window is no longer there so they can’t be moved in the normal way. After moving up the bottom edge, exit this instance of messenger and sign back in to see the voice bar and plug-in window.I tried to change other part of 701 back to 683 but I got a dead end, the old code is larger than the same part in 701. Fall back to 683 may be a solution.

MemberYour hexed .exe is great, but there is a bug in it. if you choose “Yahoo! Search” to be in the main window, it appears… well, you have to see it yourself. Just resize your main window and you’ll see that search is broken. Is there any way to fix it? Because your .exe is the best I’ve seen so far. And if you’ll solve the problem, please, type a way to do it. Maybe it’ll work on upcoming versions also.
P.S. By the way, after I posted this message I’ve noticed that you already discuss this topic. About rollback – yes, I think I’ll have to stick to build 683, but I kinda don’t wanna get stick to it forever.
P.P.S. Is there an .exe in which only headphones icon is broken and no other bugs? I pretty much don’t care about headphones icon, but other bugs are too messy.

ParticipantI explained with 2 hex pictures how to kill the ad and lose headfones icon linkable in a previous post.
If you know how to hex you can try that.

ParticipantAs I said, I came to a dead end because there’s not enough room to insert the code. At the border of easy hacking we have an option to modify in assembly and recompile, this way may create new bugs because diassemble is never perfect. Things would be much more easy if I can get my hand on the source code.
In the 683, the exe reads urls.xml to get the url of particular client_a page and use IE to download and run the script of the ad, urls.xml is downloaded the first time you run the exe, this ad and the plug-ins are at the same IP. If you block this IP the ad is removed but you lose the plug-ins.
The 701 runs urls.xml from somewhere else not from the one stored in messengercache, so the problem is how to bock the exe from getting the client_ad page and modify the layout of SlotsWnd.
[Edit] I did an uninstall and re-install, replaced the 701 exe file with the 683 and from nowhere I got my ID back in the status box, restart Y!M and restart WinXP it still shows my ID like a miracle. I started 2nd and 3rd Y!m with my other ID’s and there it shows my name again. I closed all Y!M and restart single Y!M each time with different ID and only one get the ID shown in the status box, all others shown name. It may be something to do with registry.
