KeymasterYahoo messenger 8 ad remove
why tamper with the files, and hope nothing goes wronge. try this.
First close the messenger.
Go to
C -> program files -> yahoo! -> messenger -> Cache -> right click on urls.xml and choose edit.
delete everything in it. save file, close.
Right click on file again choose properties and make the file read only.start messenger and :woot:
let me know what you think.

MemberEh, using the patch I posted, nothing would go wrong. All the bugs are worked out, both methods require a file to be edited, so I’d consider both tampering. Either way, the patched yahoomessenger.exe isn’t any less effective/unsafe. Nice job finding another method though, haven’t tested.

Keymasterdoes your method get rid of the box where the ad was? I never tested it.
The box were the ad was is still there with my method but looking into it.August 1, 2006 at 5:54 am #149173nikolas
MemberYes it does. It removes the whole container. I doubt you can remove the container without modding the program. Screenshot posted below:

MemberYep yep yep Nikolas’ remover worked,i’m currently running an ad free messenger.THANKS!
But i dont know whats happening,Nikolas you said it’ll remove the ads in the chatroom but it seemed it hasnt,or at least not all of them, when you pick the chatroom you dont get the ad anymore but just an empty box but when its loading the chatroom the ad is still there.Another thing i dont understand is why i cant see anybody typing in the chatrooms? It just tells me when they come and go but thats it.I heard that it happens when you chose to ignore eveybody who’s not on the buddy list but i never chose that so whats happening?August 2, 2006 at 12:57 am #149147Nessa

KeymasterAndy over at Wackyb.com just made a program for anyone who wants turn permitaly turn off Voice/mic in chat rooms.
You don’t even need to close yahoo for it to work!!!
If your in a room with voice on and decide to turn it off. Then you run the program. If you change rooms voice does not turn back on.Try it! let andy know how it works for you.

KeymasterThis file is only for 8.0.0682
res_msgr.dll move this file into C -> Program Files -> Yahoo! -> messenger
Backup the res_msgr.dll that is there.
While in a chat room click on “View” dropdown menu and choose “Show Nickname”
While in a chat room right click on someone in the list on the right and choose “Follow user”
