His Yahoo still isn’t working! I don’t know why it won’t. I will ask him to update to version 7.5 when he comes online next. He told me that he actually tried all of the versions of Yahoo Messenger but they all did the same thing. I used to have the same problem with my Yahoo where it wouldn’t connect, it fixed itself after a while. His hasn’t been working for months! :crying:

MemberIts so sad to hear that your boyfriend’s Y!M is still not working. But it seems that it is a glitch in your boyfriend’s PC. Could you please tell us the anti-malware programs your boyfriend has in his PC. Like anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, etc. Also, his PC’s OS, including service packs and skinning programs like windowblinds, if any. Hopefully we could get an idea on what is the problem. 😮

MemberMaybe it’s because of all the changes they’re probably making so that Y! Messenger will be able to communicate with Windows Live! Messenger. Except it is odd that he hasn’t been able to connect in a long time. Lol.
Question – is your boyfriend on a LAN or wireless network? If so he may need to adjust some settings in the hardware firewall for the network as well.

ParticipantPerhaps he has to port trigger/foward the ports used for messenger.
however it seems more of him been blocked than anything else.
perhaps a firewall is blocking it or uPnP is disabled or along them lines?
try “no network detection” in connection options in yahelite.

KeymasterIf he is blocked by firewall or proxy he can use software from http://www.surfnolimit.com
He ll be able to chat with voice and webcam even if he is behind a proxy

Participanti doubt someone wants to pay to be able to chat on a free service.
however, a little more information would be nice to help figure out cause and effect
what firewall do you use?
did the webmessenger eagle_kiwi posted work for you?
are you on cable/dsl with a router?
do you have any other programs that may restrict connection?
you mentioned laptop, is it part of a wireless network?

Please HELPBefore you even log in, try Messenger>Connection Settings>Firewall with No Proxies and see if that lets you log in. This option disables a few features like voice, cam, etc. But i suggest you use it for a couple of hours then try switching back to No Proxies and all should be fine.
Hope it works, since this has worked for me in the past!
