March 29, 2007 at 1:04 pm #159761colin1951ukParticipantVen0m,
If you’ve installed this build has the Temp File writing bug that was discussed in another thread on here been fixed???
If it hasn’t I won’t even download this one.
Cheers.
Colin
March 29, 2007 at 3:07 pm #159744DermotParticipant@johdave, i believe YahNick will still do that, haven’t tried it with latest builds though.
@colin1961uk, they are still adding the temp files but it may not be a bug but just how the installer works, and it still does it, but i never get them in the numbers you say you do.
March 29, 2007 at 5:28 pm #159754imported_Ven0mMemberWell, I did a clean install of 249, and I don’t have the temp file problem anymore. 🙂
March 29, 2007 at 7:35 pm #159762colin1951ukParticipantHmmm…after extensive beta testing 😀 …I concur…no more Temp files 🙂
Now…should I send them a cabbage for actualy reading a bug report :woot:
Cheers.

March 29, 2007 at 10:37 pm #159745DermotParticipantWell i installed 8.1.0.249 and i do have still some Tmp files present after installation.
March 30, 2007 at 1:41 pm #159763colin1951ukParticipantDermot,
I think you’re seeing something different to the tripe that was being written into my Yahoo! Messenger Folder every time I used build 244.
I was getting loads of TMP.tmp type files appearing and on deleting them after each Messenger session more would be written the next time around…a never endind circle of useless .tmp files.
I don’t think that’s you’re experience with build 249 is it??…I’m certainly not seeing it now.
Maybe you’re refering to the setup temp file that gets created on your drive…can’t remember its name for the moment…something like YServer???…but that’s a one off file and it’s not in the main Yahoo! folder…you can just delete it and forget about it…totaly different to the garbage I and some others on here were seeing.
The TMP.tmp stuff was definitely a bug…or very bad coding, whatever you want to call it…I think what you see is just a part of the installation process.
Cheers.
Colin
March 30, 2007 at 9:48 pm #159746DermotParticipantNo i’m not talking about installation temp files.
In the Messenger folder there are about 40 Filename.TMP files in there.
And yes in build 8.1.0.249
March 31, 2007 at 6:42 pm #159764colin1951ukParticipantHmmm…sounds to me that you’ve done an upgrade from 244 to 249…and those .TMP files are just leftovers from 244’s usage.
If you do a clean install of 249 you won’t see anymore temp files…been using it for nearly two days now and it’s as clean as a whistle.
Give it a try.
Cheers.

April 2, 2007 at 12:13 am #159747DermotParticipantNo, i never upgraded, i always remove all traces of yahoo before i get a new build, specially the reason i built the yahoo! removal tool.
I still got the tmp files but not as many as you and another mentioned.
