… My firewall is Zone Alarm Pro and when I was on 98 everything worked fine. Maybe it is the upgrades for XP that I need I am not sure.
If you switched to Win XP, then your trouble may probably come from the builtin Win XP firewall !
May I suggest you to go and read this page : http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/webcams/webcams-19.html
If you’re using a third-part firewall (you said Norton Personal Firewall) then you should disable the windows builtin one !
February 17, 2003 at 8:37 pm #98423Mint_SauceMemberI’ve got it to work properly now. The only way possible from what i’ve found is to create a new account from an account that works…

February 19, 2003 at 2:23 pm #98419gig700MemberHi, I’m also having the same problems as witchisis3, my cam screen goes black and then Yahoo!Messenger just bugs, I ve tried redownloading Y!M and deleting it completely but the problem still percist any suggestions?
February 19, 2003 at 6:05 pm #98429FireDudeMemberwell It looks like I am not the only one. Gig700 & Witchsis what OS are you running? XP? Just curious. I still haven’t gotten mine to work and have given up. I am not sure what to do short of taking it in and having a tech look at it but that costs money. Jsut to clarify as well that the XP firewall is not enabled on my system and that Zona Alarm doent appear to be the problem. I am thinking it may be the video card but not sure.
I sure miss my cam. 🙁July 16, 2006 at 7:33 am #98437TexasMemberI am in Australia. This began happening to me as soon as Yahoo 7.5 came out. Not only did it hit that version, it also struck my Microsoft Messenger. It is really annoying. I haven’t been able to use my cam at these services for weeks. As a work around, if you really want to reach someone, try EyeballChat, which still seems to be working fine.
July 17, 2006 at 5:05 pm #98436amn9062ParticipantHi Im having a lot of the same problems. when I turn on my cam, it works fine for 5 mins, then freezes and shuts down my messenger. Yahoo! messenger then wont let me sign in again for like 10 mins, and when I try to connect my cam then, it says network error. I have been using my cam fine until 2 days ago. anyone any suggestions as to what might have happened?

November 19, 2009 at 12:17 am #98438Doris KenneyParticipantWhat version of Yahoo are you using and have you done the voice and video setup?
November 19, 2009 at 5:59 pm #98435imported_Ven0mMemberIt’s a server-side issue I’m betting. The webcam servers are notorious for being bogged down all the time. I’d suggest using Windows Live Messenger if you’re planning to use webcams since Yahoo isn’t reliable.
