The maintenance involved shutting down the protocals.
You say its during peek time. I say peek time is at 12am eastern time.

As it stands now, I was logged on and in the middle of my session a notice came up about the “scheduled maintanence”. That’s not good…Well technically they did give you a beforehand notice… They gave us certain time intervals in which messenger may break down, so they did tell us (24 hours in advance). But of course that doesn’t mean we have to like it. 🙁

Especially on a Friday, peak time runs well late into the night, so as for you stating it is at 12am, you are correct, but it doesn’t start then. It starts much earlier, and mattumanu is very correct stating it is wrong of Yahoo to interrupt users in the highest populated area in North America (eastern) during peak time.
btw, yahoo sucks 🙂

That’s how hooked Yahoo! has you. 😛

No, I recieved no notice whatsoever. Yes, I have the latest version of Yahoo.
Still not able to log on.
December 9, 2006 at 3:06 am #155037Jeff HesterKeymastermattumanu do you get this messege?
I am useing Yahoo messenger version 7.0.0.426. I may not be able to reconnect ever. Depends what they are doing with the protocals.
YMSG 13 did not start untill Yahoo! messenger 7.0.2.120
I am guessing that protocals will be closed.

Frankly, what you say doesn’t matter. Peaktime is defined by the highest average number of users logged on at a given time. That time for yahoo, eastern standard time, begins at 6 pm. It’s not only kids online, but adults as well, some using the service for business communication as well as social communication.
Yahoo can expect me to find another service.
December 9, 2006 at 3:32 am #155038Jeff HesterKeymasterWho cares when peaktime is.
Should be back up in about 30 minutes

As for the message thing, i think they did a pretty good job of getting word out about their maintenance especially since they posted a message on top of http://messenger.yahoo.com/
And if i’m not mistaken, the maintanence should have ended by now, but Yahoo! Messenger is still not letting me log in.
December 9, 2006 at 3:51 am #155039Jeff HesterKeymasterThey started 6:22 52 minutes late so I am adding time for it to end. Post when it come back, I want to see if the protocal YMSG 12 is being closed.
December 9, 2006 at 4:05 am #155105nosilas1976MemberSystem: Yahoo! Messenger will be performing scheduled maintenance on December 8 from 5.30 PM PST to 7.30 PM PST. During this period, you might experience problems when using Yahoo! Messenger.
I am still getting this message at 10:20pm CST. However, I logged in at 6:30pm or around there and had no problems. What’s the deal with that?

YMLITE or Yahelite? hmmm just a thought…
December 9, 2006 at 4:13 am #155043Jeff HesterKeymasterYMSG14, and YMSG15 Should be safe from programers. Not sure with YMSG13
