The Number Is Of Yahoo User
So How Can I Track Him DownI’m confused. Why can’t you just put the user on ignore? In the next line you say that the number is of a Yahoo user. Are you saying this person is texting your phone outside of Yahoo but is a Yahoo user? If that’s the case, call your phone carrier and have them block the number from your phone.
There is no need to track them down — if you feel threatened, you should probably call your local law enforcement.

ParticipantI take it you have either Sprint, Cingular or Verizon?
If so, send a text message to 92466 (it spells Yahoo) with the word “out” and no quotes. If you have a different carrier the number is different.

ParticipantJust FYI: There are people in chat rooms asking people for their e-mail address so they can send them pictures. These really do look like picture files and even looks like a preview of a picture in your email; however, if you look at the file extension it is .scr (screen saver) which are able to execute code.
After opening the file, the file will delete it’s self after installing a trojan on your computer. I don’t trust files from anyone including friends since you don’t know if my friends have been hacked to get to me. Just use some common sense and you should be ok.
It’s a scary internet out there.

ParticipantWhat a sad state of affairs Yahoo Chat is when people can’t even be who they really are. What do these people do when they become close friends and they need to let out the, “oh by the way, I lied to you about everything.”
I guess you just tell them to bark like a dog, spin in a circle and tap themselves on the head 43 times.

ParticipantDo all of you think this is a bad thing? I think its nice having some privacy by not allowing people to snoop on where I am just by /following me. It can be useful at times, but I’d rather it be an option rather than a requirement.

ParticipantHi, I am a frequent reader of these forums but I’ve never posted before until now since I’d like to add my two cents to this subject.
An IP address is by no means a holy grail to anything. An IP address is more or less a street address on the internet. You can know where someone’s house is located, but that’s not even half the battle if you want to get inside of it. The most personal information someone can get from your IP address is just some information about your internet service provider which you can read freely on the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN). Since I cannot figure out how to insert HTML code on this forum, the link is http://www.arin.net — you can run a WHOIS query from there.
Booters are not hackers; mic lockers are not hackers; voice laggers are not hacker and the same goes for their entire entourage – they are merely script kiddies that download programs off the internet. I wouldn’t worry about your little run in as it happens with me all the time. Don’t go running your mouth on them – just hit the ignore button.
