MemberLocaly… hmmm. I will have to find that.

Memberhmmm. I would talk to your network admin. Really I am supprised that you have aim at all at work.

MemberI’ve noticed it as well. But I think it is not a big deal, it just happens when the IM has been up for a while, perhaps indicating which IMs were opened first. You can always right click on them and select play.
Perhaps it is saving server space on AOL by disconecting the path of the icon from your computer to the server.Really, how often do you need to see the same thing over and over again?

MemberI would definatly not direct connect with the person, he/she might be very tech savy, and could gain access to your computer.

If you try this, take a screenshot of the command promt and exit aim, both the program and the task running in the background. go to paint and hit paste.

MemberI have aim 5.9.3690 and it works… if that is what the quote is refering to
DarkFire317
MemberYou can also do this by Hex editing you aim.exe
Download a hex editor, a good one is “Hex Workshop” (http://www.bpsoft.com/)
Then once installed open it, and then open aim.exe. You are now looking for “_Oscar_AppMutex.” Next all you do is change the “.” with a “1” or “2” any, I think, single didget number. and save it under an new name( ! used aim2.exe, aim3.exe …etc)
A great tutorial can be found here: http://aimfilez.com/?id=clone
good luck

Memberand really all it is is xml editing, but you still have to be carefull with nested code
DarkFire317
MemberHmmm. I do not think it is because of your background color, mine being black withouth the problem. or perhaps it is a combination of things, font color aim expresions, etc
DarkFire317
Memberit will also happens it your serrver goes down at any given time, so that may be the problem, you server disconnects for a few minutes

MemberI do believe, however, the issue is that some one may one day start registering names that will never be used by that individual. Rather they were created merely for the re-sale. Understandably, some screen names need to be recycled, ant therefore ddr becomes available. But it seems rather “wrong” to sell a screen name, that at one point was freely created, when, provided its posable, it could be re-registered with the proprietor.
