MemberWow.
I’ve been a silent lurker recently, but i have to comment about this.
Detn8r, but I cant immagine BBB without the long experiance you’ve given in such a way, and the role you’ve set, but it’s defenitely a good decision to prioritise. We all know, definitely more than hopefully, that you’ll keep on sharing your good advice.
Sami ๐ heh – for all the long night crazy chats we’ve had. Good one on you girl. Brilliant to have the whole character thing that only you have. Congrats ๐
And Sarah :), i’ve never really got into much contact with you, but from the forums, you’re defenitely a very good choice. Well done and congrats to you too. ๐

MemberOverheating was always a problem with the older, non-Centrino notebooks.
Now one of the ways that Centrino technology overcomes the heating problem is by creating more an improved airflow through the notebook, in addition to lowering the power requirements.
The older laptops usually have 2-4 air ducts or openings which may or may not have a fan. Sometimes, these may get slightly clogged by dust, or blocked by an external interferance. Against dust, which is the more obvious issue, a can of Spray Duster would easily reduce the problem. With some of the laptops, which may or may not have air ducts at the bottom, rather than at the back of the laptop. Some devices exist to blow air UNDER the notebook, which has a noticibly cooling effect. in any case, leaving a reasonable gap for air to flow, with or without an external fan, aids in cooling the notebook by creating a greater surface area for conduction to take place.

MemberYes, that is another issue. I restart my pc about twice a week to clear the RAM.

MemberLeft on 24/7, unless it’s being transported to a LAN, or I’m upgrading in which case a quick aerosol air solves the dust problem. I don’t leave it on for any scientific reason, it’s just what i’ve always done. All said and done, in two years of having my pc, it’s never giver me any hardware trouble (except my UPS not being powerfull enough for my 19″ monitor ๐ )

MemberI used to read loads when I was young, Alfred Hitchcock, Eynd Blyton, Roald Dahl. The Kids stuff.
Now I’m a little more mature, and can appreciate more literature *ahem*, I’d insist on Dan Brown – not the Da Vinci Code[/b], but Angels and Demons[/b].
I love the way he merges and intertwines fact and fiction, but starting off his books with a ‘disclaimer notice’, informing the reader on which part of the book to believe.
Harry Potter was also a book I enjoyed reading. Actually, I just picked up a copy of the first episode to see what the hell everybody was making a fuss about. Next thing I knew, I was hooked, and couldn’t really stop reading till I finished the book. Addictive.

MemberI guess it’s till you reach a certain age that you see your parents as ‘demons on earth’, then, when you mature a little, you realise they are generally right most of the time.
I never really had any issues regarding curfews and such, my parents where always very reasonable, considering that the area I live in is a few minutes walk away from the entertainment mecca, and the place I live in is rather safe with very little crime. Mainly, it was my mother who set the curfews, after consulting me when, where, and with whom I was going out.
My father died from cancer just under 5 years ago, so that obviously has an effect on a family. I was always the close to my mother, being the eldest son and all, and that increased. I also had to become more mature, and help my my bring up my younger brother. Now, most arguments are either that I need to fix her PC after work, (when I just want to lock myself in my room or go out), or the usual clean up your room, blah blah. Also, buying mum a dishwasher, microwave, A/C for xmas, birthday etc helps, ๐ less work, and you need to spend cash on someone else once in a while ๐
Oooh, that mediterranean method of thought ๐

MemberDepends which email account.
The one I use at office for work, almost constantly, around once every 5minutes when i’m at my pc.
My Gmail account would be about 4 times a day, whenever gmail notifier pops up (either a friend with some joke, or a relative asking for PC advice, or an aquantance needing help at studying, some PO for whatever I ordered etc..)
My hotmail account, hmm… once every three weeks (). I never recieve any mail on that, thanks to the mail filters. Although, recently I recieved some diecieptfully sly attacthment which was not blocked, and loaded an html file designed as the MSN login page. I only noticed because the address was an IP and not http://login.passport.net .

MemberTry http://www.freewebs.com. I found it very professional. No popups or banners when hosting a site there, however, there is a bandwidth limit (which should not be an issue for 5-6 pages), and they request a simple link back to the mothersite. I think it’s a quite a fair deal.
As a sidenote, I usually create a credits page on my websites anyway, stating the sites I used as reference, any forums or message boards I access, from where I copied any java applets from (thats where the real credit comes in), , people who helped me, etc.

MemberPink Panther cracks me up. 2nd place goes to Bugs Bunny, keeps his cool, and chews his carrots. 3rd place goes to Popeye.
I’m assuming Shrek counts as an animation, not a cartoon. Cos Shrek would really be tops!

MemberWhat country was built in a lagoon on more than a hundred small islands? – Greece
I’m quite certain that it’s Holland (aka the Netherlands) Greece is a mountainious country, hardly a lagoon. Holland however, has a mean height of 1 metre above sea level.
