nothing i tried worked….i finally just reformatted my comp…an upgrade actually to win xp pro…worked perfectly….i downloaded messenger 7 from the web site and it is working like a charm…guys …i appreciate all your help….thanks again
i had the same problem with messenger….i had to download mess 5.6…i was finally so frustrated i had to reformat my comp…
dermot…i have 3.1 ver 2…..web installer suite i believe….. 3.1.4000.2435…that is the version of the file on the download page….
tin…thanks for the info…i checked and i am running windows installer 3.1 v 1….however i did follow your advice and i downloaded the installer 3.1 v 2…still nothing…i then tried to reinstall yahoo messenger and i got the same result…
no …actually i have saved the program that i have saved on my desktop…rather than running it from the download….i have also deleted all my yahoo folders in the registry and also on my computer…i have no idea what this means….i have posted before but havent come up with a solution…currently i am running mess ver 5.6 on my comp….i prefer the 6 or 7 series and i am frustrated as hell…am i missing a dll or what am i doing wrong?
seem like this is a prevalent problem with yahoo messenger lately….i too had the same problem as jersy girl…i am running on an xp home edition and i keep getting a message anytime i install anything higher than mess.ver 5.6….the message states..You do not have access to make the required system configuration modifications. Please rerun this installation from an administrators account.
User Rights: Admin<<<<<—-that is the kicker…i AM logged on as an admin……i have also run a attempted repair program and recieved the same message as jersy girl…ver 5.6 is ok…but i want 6 or 7…..i had it before but my girlfriend ran ballistic on me and deleted all my messenger program…….i even went so far as to regedit my comp for any previous versions of messenger…..i have mess ver…7 saved on my desktop and i have deleted and reinstalled about 20 times now with no luck……i was told that java may have some type of influence over this program by i have even deleted and reinstalled that….CAN ANYBODY HELP????? i am at my wits end….i even installed the program in safe mode under the administrator account…also no luck……thanks in advance for any help……man…that sucks….i read thru this and said to myself….the only fool is an uninformed one…altho it sucks at least you found out early enough not to be screwed….be good to yourself man……
Please rerun this installation from an administrators account.this is the message i keep getting…..it is frustrating to say the least
still no luck…i deleted all entries of java…tried to reinstall messenger 6.0 from a disc and still no luck…i am still getting the administrator error message…..i am currently running 5.6 which barely installs….( i have it saved on my desktop….)if anybody has any idea….please let me know..5.6 is ok but i want the features from 7.0………thanks in advance
seems i am running java 1.5.0 also……also i get the most unusual message when i try to reinstall messenger from v 5.6…..you do not have access to make the required system configuration modifications. Please rerun this installation from an administrators account.

i am logged on as an administrator on this computer……the install program runs to about 95 % and then starts flahing….i have run an antivirus….no bugs what so ever…….i am runnin win xp home……now my question is…how did you edit java 1.5?also for more info…i am running my comp on a wireless carl…it is a pc but because of wiring probs i had to use one…..if anybody can help i would appreciate it…..
i have tried to run a registry cleaner on my comp…for some reason my computer does not recognize me as an administator when it comes to yahoo messenger…i am running a 1.6 processor intel pentium processor on an equus computer……i have checked my user and i am logged on as an adminitrator…i was running 7.0 just fine until i deleted it…….my memory is fine…..i dont have this problem with any other program except yahoo 7.0……..i also tried to install all the 6 series and i am still having the same so called administrator problem………i am currently running 5.6 but i want the features of the 6 and 7 series…..am i going insane or what………….i i usually delete all my messenger files before i try to install any of the new ones…..i have all the install files saved to my desktop to avoid contamination……..i look like a yahoo messenger collector……..can anybody help?/??
