MemberTry a different virus program such as AVG Free… the same problem happened to a friend of mine. The problem was a bunch of trojan viruses that McAffee was NOT picking up (even though it was up to date….. yes…. very comforting, huh?), but it was just too big of a problem to fix, so we waited until it was usable, backed up most files we wanted to keep and I just wiped the hard drive and reinstalled windows. It runs like treasure now! That will fix almost anything 🙂

MemberI am not sure about your school, but I think most universities (including mine)frown upon downloading stuff “illegally” such as music and movies and such…. so they may have blocked stuff.. but I guess it’s worth a try… the thing with bittorrent is….. it’s naturally slow. It’s not as common as P2P network, so there’s not many “seeds” or not as many people using it I guess you can say. I dont really use Bittorrents anymore…. but here’s a little program I found helpful…. it’s not free…. but from what I understand, it even helps to have the program open…. even if you dont register it… I think a few times I got up to 100 KB/s with this program open… but it’s been so long, I dont know if it’d even work anymore…. but the program is called… BT Engine 4.7… Free download here: http://www.soft4kids.com/ Enjoy!

MemberIrfanview has never failed me
It’d probably work good if anyone else ran into this problem

MemberBut I dont understand why it is prompting him for a password after a lightning storm? Possibly it was from running it in a different mode of windows… sometimes safe mode and different modes can cause weird side effects.

MemberMy sister had a problem like this…. I dont think AIMFix got rid of it….. the problem was actually a trojan virus…. now im not sure if it is the same case as you, but you may want to try scanning for viruses/spyware….. if a trojan comes up….. use a program called “Trojan Remover” (just type it in google and it should be the first thing to pop up)
AIMFix usually DOES work, notice he updates it almost daily. So whenever it doesnt fix something, chances are it is a new bug goin around, and it hasnt been added to his database thing for the program.
Let us know if you fix it!
November 18, 2005 at 10:19 pm in reply to: What is the most current version of AIM and Dead AIM I can use? #133476GoldenKnight8987
MemberDeadAIM = no/no…. if you wanted the last free version of DeadAIM…. you better plan on downgrading AIM…. because it probably will NOT work with 5.9… (the last FREE version of DeadAIM that is)…. however, the latest DeadAIM (that works with 5.9) is NOT FREE…. I personally use Smilez for the tabs. (See post above this for the link) I simply like the program better. It is not bulky, doesnt take over AIM as much as DeadAIM, which is a plus. But yes, if all you want DeadAIM is for the tabs, simply use Smilez…. thats what I did. I went from DeadAIM to Smilez. Anyway…. hope you get it working good for ya!

MemberI dont think you can track how long a file has been open…. I do know that you can see how long it took to edit/write it…. but to time how long it has been open…. I dont think you can do that…

MemberI dont even think it would matter to Ageel if he/she is an administrator or not… because it looks as if even if it were enabled to select one, it would be selected anyways….. so I dont think that is your problem. I am going to look further into the problem to see if I can come up with anything.
Best of luck!
P.S. Is windows up to date with the patches/updates etc??
