MemberQuote:quote:is it safe for me to be typing in my username and password into these programs in order to delete myself from someones list? I am sure that the distributor of the program would easily be able to get my password, right?Yes, and no. It would be easy for somebody to write such a program to get others passwords, but if they did I’m sure they would a) soon get found out b) be in serious trouble, & c) word would quicky get around and others would know about it.
Having used both JAM and DaB and monitored what they do,I feel safe in saying they do nothing they shouldn’t, just be sure you download them from the ‘offical’ site rather then some L33t War3z 😉But, that said, for the time being, both JAM and DaB won’t be working – Yahoo have changed the login process again and blocked clients using YMSG for the time being.

MemberMessenger is a bit sneeky, if it can’t connect on port 5050 it tries a whole host of other ports – 23,80 (and maybe 8080),21,25,119,20,37. Obviously blocking some of these ports on a router stops other services too.
Ports 5000 and 5001 are for voice, and 5100 for webcam. Voice will try TCP connection if it can’t connect using UDP.
