MemberI have yet to have this problem happen to me. In fact just the other day, I was in chat and posted a few Url’s in the Chat room, and I was not disconnected nor did I have my account locked. Maybe this situation has something to do with what server you are connected to or what region you are in??? Just thought I’d put my two cents in here.

MemberThis is a typical message sent by a Yahoo spam/porn bot.
I have received thousands of these types of messages from bots. The only solution that I know of is to either add them to your ignore list in Messenger or put them in your Super Iggy Bin in Y!tunnel Pro.
If anyone else has a better solution than this. Please post, as this is a very annoying problem.

MemberJenn,
for your first problem: He is probably using a mic lock to grab the mic when he comes into the room. This is the easiest way to steal the mic.For your second problem: Even if you ignore someone, if another person has their mic active and the person you ignored is still on the mic. You will hear the person you ignored via the other person. Also on this note, if you ignore someone through yahoo messenger, all they have to do to become un-ignored is to leave the chat room and come back in. One solution to this is to get a hold of a copy of Y!tunnel Pro and place the annoying person into the Super Iggy Bin. Once in the Iggy Bin you will not see or hear this person ever again, or until you remove them from the Iggy Bin. This is the method that I use to rid myself of an annoying person.
For problem 3: Now this is just a guess but the person you are talking about probably changed their nickname on their profile to all capital letters. When you change your nickname via your yahoo profile, your name will show up as your nickname in Chat.
Hopefully this helps you out. I would post a link to get Y!tunnel Pro here, however it is against BBB’s forum policies so if you want a copy please visit http://www.ytunnelpro.com

MemberThere is no real way to stop the bots in chat via yahoo, exluding a third party program. This is just a fact that any chatter on the Yahoo Network will have to deal with. And I don’t see Yahoo changing this anytime in the near future either.

MemberThe easiest hassle free way of sharing files via XP is the Network Setup Wizard on XP as Shifter mentioned. However there are other ways of achieving the same thing. The only problem is you will need to be somewhat “Network” savvy. My suggestion is if you cannot figure out how to get it setup via the Network Setup Wizard on XP, try doing a search on the net for networking tutorials on XP or just windows. There are plenty of websites out on the Net that have loads of technical information translated into laymans terms on the subject of Networking. Here are a few links on the subject which I pulled up with a simple search on Yahoo:
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp/filesharing.htm
http://www.tipsdr.com/windows-xp-networking.html
http://www3.baylor.edu/~resnet/fileshareXP.htmlHere is a small forum discussing problems and solutions on XP Filesharing (somewhat technical)

MemberOk, I know this is slightly off topic, but I will throw this in as this subject was brought up.
If the unfortunate case arrises where one has to reformat their hard drive completely to remove a trojan or a virus. The first thing that I would recommend is to do what is called a “Low Level Format”. Many system BIOS’es have such a utility built in. What this type of utility does is writes all “1’s” on the disk essentially wiping everything out. This includes the Master Boot Record and every sector on the disk. If your system does not have a Low Level Format utility built in, there are many freeware programs available on the internet to do this type of thing.
I truly hope that nobody has to resort to these measures, but as the saying goes “Sh*t happens”. Also as a side note: Before you “low level format” your hard drive ensure that you have backups of all of your software and boot disks to reformat.

MemberTechnically the method posted on that page would work for any IMvironment as the other person would need to load the IMvironment. However the only drawback to this method is if a person (myself for example) has their IMvironments off. If this is the case then this method will not work.

MemberContrary to many people’s beliefs, it is very difficult, almost impossible to completely mask/hide your ip while connected to the internet. As Freddy stated earlier in this post, a computer cannot communicate on the Internet without knowing the destination computer’s IP address and the destination computer has to have the IP address of your computer. This goes for any computer communicating via the TCP/IP protocol.
If you want to find out more information about what an IP address is or what can be done with an IP address I would suggest doing a search, which would bring up lots of information.
Here is a few sites that I brought up on the subject:
this site will show you your ip address, or the address that others will see (if you are going through a remote proxy)
http://www.whatismyip.com/For those somewhat technically savy here is a more technical explanation of TCP/IP addressing and networking.
http://compnetworking.about.com/library/weekly/aa042400a.htmfor those not so technically savvy here is a page with an explanation in layman’s terms.

MemberMy bad, I apoligize. I didn’t realize that was originally your post. And now I’ll just shut up.

MemberMy advice is to try it out for yourself for a while. If you like it then you can keep on using it. If not then you can always remove the program from your computer. And if you have problems with being booted you can always update your version of messenger, or use another 3rd party program to reduce the chances of you being booted.
I have been using Yahoo! Messenger for years, and despite having booting issues and connectivity issues from time to time; I would recommend it to anyone who wants to communicate online.

MemberWhat is the error message you recieve for Yahoo! Messenger??? I’m willing to bet you have a corrupted driver, or *.dll that Yahoo Messenger needs to run chat. I would uninstall Messenger and Re-install it.

Memberanaveen:
Why are you copying other’s post and placing them in other topics. That is plageristic. Why can’t you offer your own opinion on the matter, or if the problem is answered in another post, why don’t you put a link to that post. Instead you copied someone else’s post and placed it here as your own. Not cool dude.hellsfury_25m
MemberFor me it depends on my mood, and sortof how alert and awake I am. If I’m still half asleep, usually it’s Coffee, otherwise it would be water, juice or soda.

MemberI would attemt to download the program again. I have never seen that error message with Yahoo before, however it might be due to a corrupt/incomplete download.
On a side note: KERNEL32.DLL is a process that is run when windows is booted up. Perhaps if you could provide more information on the problem, i.e. copy the entire error message including the header of the error. This will help us more computer savvy users help diagnose the problem more thoroughly. Also please include what Operating System and version you are using as well. (i.e. My OS: Windows 98 Second Edition)

MemberI would have to agree with Johnson on this one. If the person was going to do something to you or your computer, they would not tell you about it, they would just do it. I think this person is someone who knows very little about what can be done with an IP address and is out to scare people who don’t know any better. My advice to you is to tell him/her that he’s an idiot, and ignore them.
