MemberA lot of useless posts here if you ask me, no one seemed to notice how both users are always invisible, this is funny, i’ve always said invisble mode is stupid to use, if you both use invisible the only way to know if the other person is on is to message them, how stupid is that, for all you know this person has died, and since you both use invisible you may never know. That makes you’re ? about two different things then, both of which are asked weekly over and over again time after time on this site, I suggest that shifter start two sticky threads, 1. how to tell if someone is on invisible, he can put some of the more basic ways of doing this right in the top part, I will throw in my 2 cents to it, and anyone else who has anything that’s actually useful should as well, 2. he needs a sticky thread something like “how do I tell if someone blocked me” I will be more than happy to throw my 2 cents into this one as well
Over and over these ?’s are asked, and over and over they are never really answered, why post on a forum where people just ridicule you and never answer any of you’re ?’s or try to be supportive? This isn’t the place for it. I just thought of this, how about we start two threads about each of these subjects and we come up with the valid ways of approaching these 2 problems, and then shifter starts a sticky thread using the info? For now if you want an answer to either of these 2 problems suzanne, look back thru all the posts I have made, I have addressed these 2 issues like 5 times each lmao in the past few months. Hopefully we can start a sticky thread.Johnson
MemberIf they are on you’re friends list, if you keep a chat window open to them, even if you haven’t said anything, when they login/logoff it will show you in the box and what time they signed on/off. Even people that exclusively use invisible show online every once in a while, but they have to be on you’re friends list or it won’t show.

MemberTheres a way to tell 100% if someone is online and invisible, but that’s only if you already were talking to them, or if you send them a message you can tell, it’s the same way you get someones ip, you netstat, an look at the ip’s you are connected to, yahoo is always on port 5101, but if you are talking to more than one person you will have multiple people’s ip’s showing, and also for some reason if you are not on each others friends lists then it won’t show the connection, this could be a way to check if someone has you added or not.

Memberdid you even lose it in the first place? you respond to the automated email with you’re info to request a new password, it’s a lil annoying but trust me it works
Johnson
MemberTheres a few ways to get a name back, one is to call:
Yahoo! Inc.
701 First Avenue
Sunnyvale, California 94089
Phone: (1-)408 731-3300
Phone: (1-)408-349-3300
Fax: (1-)408-349-3301Or you can email them through this link:
http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/edit/cgi_feedback
If you email they will respond and ask you for the details of you’re account, if you give them the correct info that you had on you’re account, they will email you a new password. The info required is:
Yahoo id, country, zipcode, birthday, alternate email, answer to you’re challenge question.
I think they want the info from when the account was created, if an id was made pre 8-98 or around there then it probably won’t have a challenge question. The main thing here is whether or not you put you’re actual info when you made the account, or if you put bogus info, if you put you’re info on the account, odds are you can recover it. That should cover it. If you’re account was stolen, the only info they likely changed was you’re zip code, an possibly you’re alternate email. I would try the zips 123456 an 90210 those are the two most common zips used, and also you need to try an figure out how the account was taken to prevent it in the future, and also if you know who took it, try their zip code(s) if you know where they are from.
Johnson
MemberYou can’t, you have to call to change the password, when they first started these accounts people cracked them by the hundreds an changed the passwords so they changed em so you have to call, wow why not just make all ids like this where you have to call an verify you made the id to change the password? From you’re post sounds like the id isn’t originally your’s or you woulda just called an got it changed.

MemberStealing yahoo names isn’t technically illegal, more like immoral, unless they are paying for some yahoo service, it’s funny anytime something is banned, that basically makes a huge demand for it, and people want it that much more.
Johnson
MemberThey are only called illegals because you can no longer make them, it’s not illegal to use them in chat/games wherever, but yahoo has deactivated probably 10,000+ illegal names in the past year. B4 that they rarely if ever deactivated mass ids that I knew of.

Memberthat id there was made thru taiwan yahoo, you can see the email, and the picture is one of the default taiwan pics, in like june/august of 2001 around that time the people in taiwan could either make names or they made them an transferred their ids from another site to yahoo, theres 10’s of 1000’s of these ids especially full # ids, thousands have been cracked. I have seen some odd things one id I can’t list cause the id is profane but I believe it has a . in it an the profile said it was made within the last year, which is very odd, and I had an id once that was similar to it, but it had a yahoo isp account on it, but the id didn’t have @sbcglobal.net in it, but had -‘s. Yahoo is really stupid they banned all of these specific types of ids, yet they let people make these types of ids that they banned, but they have @sbcglobal.net at the end, I have said it for years why don’t they just let people make whatever names they wanna make and the problem is basically solved.
Johnson
MemberYou cannot create these types of ids, now if you have a isp thru yahoo you could make king…baby__@sbcglobal.net, but other than that you cannot, you can’t put periods or dashes in a regular yahoo id, you cannot end an id with a underscore. These types of ids have been banned for like 5 years now, but in 2001 people with yahoo taiwan either made ids such as these, or yahoo merged with some taiwan site, which I heard is where the rename ids came from. There was a glitch in december of 1999 where anyone in the world I believe could make any type of yahoo name they wanted to just about, but was fixed after a few days, but lots of ids where made, 1000’s of them.

MemberNo, you are locking his info, not his pw, big difference, he will not know that you even locked it. He’s using multiple ids to bother you and you are worried about making him mad? lol
Johnson
MemberHe could of deleted them, or the account got deactivated possibly. This is very simple if I want to know if ids are on the same account I goto the pw retrieval page, and I lock up the info on one of the ids, then I check the other ids, if the info on the other names is locked then they are all on the same account. I wouldn’t suggest locking up a pw and using it to check it because it’s not very consistent, if the info is locked, it works like clock work, and all aliases on the account will also be locked on the pw retrieval page, all it takes is 10 tries to lock up the info.

I switched to the europe server, one day the default server wasn’t working an I haven’t used it since.
Johnson
MemberIf an account is locked from too many pw attempts, this lasts for 12 hours exactly, after the account is initially locked, I don’t care what anyone else tells you, this is a fact. If you’re account after 12 hours still doesn’t work then it’s not locked. Yes if you login you unlock you’re id, but the problem is with messenger not regular yahoo, my only advice is to add a new profile to you’re account, and try to login to messenger with the new profile.

MemberIt’s hard to say what info is on the account, quite possibly the zip code is different from what you think it is or what you think you put, or the bday could be wrong. Used to you could check the bday on any id if u knew it by putting in a different country, not sure when they changed it but used to if you put a non usa country in the pw retrieval page, with the right bday and no zip it would tell you whether or not the bday was right, but now you have to know the zip/country and bday b4 u know it’s the correct bday. If you gave me the bday/zip/country i could try some combos, who knows, a lot of people use 90210 and 12345 as their zip codes, bdays are much harder to guess, basically impossible, 1-1-11 1-11-11 6-6-66 are a few common bdays 1-1 of any year is somewhat common, but virtually impossible to guess bdays specially having to know the zip.

MemberI don’t see how that would make it to where u couldn’t view profiles, you say u have to make a new id every day? Could someone be stealing them? This makes absolutely no sense. If you can’t view profiles you can try a different server:
http://p7.pf.scd.yahoo.com/yahoo-id
http://uk.profiles.yahoo.com/yahoo-id
http://kr.profiles.yahoo.com/yahoo-id
If none of those work something is really messed up, do u have any problems viewing any other yahoo web pages or any other non yahoo sites?
