Log into Yahoo, then link to

The html-based table that shows your friends can be selected, copied, and pasted into a text editor.
Log into the new Yahoo ID you want to transfer friends into
Repeatedly linking towill add the friend.
There’s nothing magic – these are merely the syntax & URLs that Yahoo uses to do the above. ‘Tis a pain, but it works.

MemberThe “new status” dialog seems to limit the length to 48 characters. Type some of the new status message using the dialog. You’ll find the (partial) message in the registry. Edit the registry under
(NOTE: if you don’t know how to do this, it probably isn’t a good thing to attempt without guidance)

You’ll find a numeric key with the (partial) message you entered.
Click on the key, and supplement the message as you see fit.I tried a fairly long string, and it worked. I have no idea how big is “too big” – it wouldn’t be nice to cause a buffer-overrun in either your window or those of your friends. Use comon sense.

MemberAs far as I’m aware, if you view someone’s profile and click on the link “Add to friend list”, they are silently added. There is no notification. (you do have to log in again for that person to show up)
Even if they don’t include the option to add in their profile, all you have to do is type
http://edit.yahoo.com/config/set_buddygrp?.src=&.cmd=a&.bg=Friends&.bdl=WhateverTheirUserNameIs
