I had a look at it, and I have to say, I like it muchly. Thanx.
Since I started travelling 6 months, I have been using various hotel’s ISP’s and therefore at the mercy of their DNS’s stability (as I choose to automatic DNS option, without my knowing, of course). It had been a bit glitchy from the start of my travel, and I didn’t know why unltil I come to this hotel where this webpage opening/loading prob becomes unstable to the point of unacceptable. Only for the first time I was forced to pay attention to this DNS bizo.
I guess with this ever changing ISP’s provided by hotel around the world, I can at least count on one thing that remains constant.
Great suggestion, thanx again.

P.O. I always LOVE this OPEN affair 😛 Open Office, for example, is a great product.
May 29, 2009 at 11:05 am in reply to: Having problem with some mail websites like Yahoo & hotmail – Part 3 #174872LveAndLearnMemberMe neither as I’m not an IT person at all (IGmarkets website would be a giveaway what I do). But thanx for your help & patience just the same.
When you drive a car, you leave the inner working of an engine to the merchanic, but i’m afraid you can’t be just a computer user, you have to be get your hand dirty and become a merchanic.
Thanx again.

May 29, 2009 at 9:33 am in reply to: Having problem with some mail websites like Yahoo & hotmail – Part 3 #174871LveAndLearnMemberoh, btw, any1 has a better choice than the DNS 4.2.2.2???
LveAndLearnMemberI tried all of above: reset IE7, spring clean with CClean, etc.
It worked a little better at first, but got worse a hours later!!!
I decided to do what I have done a few times before, uninstalled Yahoo Messenger for one more and the LAST time!!!!
Everything seems to work okay again…relatively speaking. I was able to open Yahoo & IGmarkets pages with usually less 2 tries (good enuff).
But i still get this email format problem that I meantioned before, the format in my Yahoo mail pages has all screwed up. I believe this is a totally different issue than the page loading issue (which I consider case closed. I’m not going to spend another day on it. i can only have so many wrinkles on my face and so many greys on my head).
Any idea?
LveAndLearnMemberI unchecked “Automatically Detect Settings” and didn’t see any difference.
Also, apart from the intermitten page/loading problem with Yahoo. When I tried to open yahoo Mail via the yahoo home page Yahoo! -> http://www.yahoo.com/r/l4, I have NOT once, able to open Yahoo mail from there. This isn’t intermitten. It’s certain (at least something is consistent for a change). I have a better chance log into Yahoo mail with my bookmarked URL:
https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?&.src=ym&rl=1A few tries are needed, but at least, I’ve got in eventually.
Don’t know if this info is of any use…LveAndLearnMemberI also tried to ping all the websites (even the one that opens ok, lke google) and all I got back were “General failures” messages. Don’t know if this means anything at all.
LveAndLearnMemberI reset my IE, didn’t seem to do any good.
I installed Google Chrome, trying to see if this is a IE-only prob.
It doesn’t seem to be. The Chrome has this occassional hiccups on opening these pages, too. But Chrome did give a more meaning error messgage that seems to shed more light (not to me though):“DNS error – can’t find server”
“Oops! This link appears to be broken”Does it mean much to you?
LveAndLearnMemberI don’t have Trend Protect (probably only in the Pro version).
I disable phishing filter with no noticable different…sigh…
LveAndLearnMemberNo. I use Trend Micro Internet Security.
On some occassions, I also get “Address not Valid” error message when I type an URL into a new browser window…Don’t know if this also ties in with all these weird page loading prob…

May 23, 2009 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Having problem with some mail websites like Yahoo & hotmail #174807LveAndLearnMemberActually I just found the “View Installed Updates” all on my own 🙂 But thanx a million for your help!!!
Just a quick note. After the un-installation, Windows said it would have to restart the PC for the effect to take place. After the restart (and I can see Window was updating stuff as it restarting), but nothing has changed after the restart. Just when I feel like drop my PC down the 8th floor, I decided just restart the PC once again for whatever sake. And it worked! Everything work again to normal after TWO restarts.
I never like to keep up with technology and stay away from Beta anything like plague. This is the first time I’ve broken this rule, and it wasted a lot of my time. Yep, I have learnt a lession that I have ALREADY known! D’oh!!!!!!
Once again, Thanx you, you’re a life saver!
May 23, 2009 at 3:07 pm in reply to: Having problem with some mail websites like Yahoo & hotmail #174809LveAndLearnMemberI can’t find IE8 in the “uninstall or change program” list, but only in the “Change startup programs” and it doesn’t say IE8. In fact when I click on it, the property info window tells me this:
File Version: 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205).
So it says version 6! But the ‘About’ box in the browser says version 8!
What’s going on? I’m a bit nervous removing this from the “startup program” list, scaring I may have left browser-less…if’m browser-less, I can’t even download stuff from the net…
What is going on? And what should i proceed from here?
May 23, 2009 at 2:35 pm in reply to: Having problem with some mail websites like Yahoo & hotmail #174808LveAndLearnMemberThanx for replying.
I thnk we’re getting somewhere here. No, my wife’s PC definitely doesn’t have IE8. It may even be IE6.
Ok, so what is the best way to do this?
– simply re-install IE7 on top of IE8, or
– un-install IE8, then install IE7.The second requires more effort, but probably is a better way to go. Yeah?

May 23, 2009 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Having problem with some mail websites like Yahoo & hotmail #174810LveAndLearnMemberSorry, should have stated environment info:
1. Windows version: Vista. IE version: 8.
2. No google toolbar installed.
3. No other tool bar install on my browser
4. no plugin as far as i know
5. only one page (if I understand the question correctly)
6. Java Version: 6.0.130.3. Flash? Don’t know that I have them. How do you check? Maybe that’s the problem. Before this reply. I re-installed BOTH Windows Messenger and Yahoo Messenger as I realise that maybe the fact Yahoo and hotmail mail box problem are separate problems. As it turned out, re-installing Windows Live Messenger did fix the hotmail problem. the hotmail is now open ok. But the problem with Yahoo remains unchanged.
Both Yahoo and Igmarkets still not able to display probably. With Yahoo, although it doesn’t display probably in CLASSIC format, but at least i can still read mails (yahoo doesn’t load the NEW mail format at all).
As for IGMarkets website, the display stuffed up so completely that I can’t use it at all (And i need to use it urgently). The fact that these two websites (Yahoo mail and IGmarkets) both use LIVE STREAMING, has that anything to do with the display problem?
