I really like Plurk – but no one is on it unfortunately.
NationHahnMemberBrosix has screen sharing software. It is one of the better features of the software. Check out Brosix.com for more.

NationHahnMemberWhen I attended UNC our librarians were plugged into AOL Instant Messenger – but it was odd and clunky because they required you to use the AIM program on the AOL IM website. It would have made a lot of sense to use an enterprise network like Brosix… (promotion I know) and just have a login on each computer inside of the library that would allow you to naturally login on a true messaging program.
NationHahnMemberThanks for adding the link Gandalf. Voting is still open if you wish to vote. It ends March 15!
NationHahnMemberThought I’d add the official lingo. =)
Good luck next year Jonny!

Brosix.com Receives Lucrative Nominations for Best Instant Messenger at About.com
Chicago, IL – February 16th, 2009 – About.com, one of the most trusted “How To” sites on the internet, recently announced its nominations for top Instant Messaging software of 2009. Even though Brosix has yet to garnish the popularity of instant messaging programs by AOL and Yahoo!, it received nominations in the following categories:- Best IM Experience 2009
- Best Third-Party IM Client 2009
- Most Improved IM Client 2009
- Best IM Feature 2009 (for Whiteboard Feature)
- Best IM Developers 2009
Brosix is a start-up firm whose goal is to develop secure instant messaging software for business and home. Standard chat features are available, including voice and video conferencing. A few unique tools like a free-drawing whiteboard and screen sharing features push Brosix over the top.
Brosix has two versions of their IM client: the enterprise version at brosix.com and the free version at brosix.org. The free version gives you the opportunity to explore the features without committing your company to the product.
The next big test will be to see how Brosix fares against the giants of the IM industry. The odds are slim to be sure. To see the list and vote for your favorite IM client you can visit im.about.com for more information. Voting is scheduled to stay open through mid-March.

###NationHahnMemberHey! Can I promote the blog I write for? 😉
blog.brosix.com – check it out!
NationHahnMemberIt might too late to take your survey now but instant messaging in the workplace is an interest of mine so I filled it out. I work for Brosix Enterprise Instant Messaging so it is something I focus on every day.
I hope that your survey goes well.
NationHahnMemberWe use Brosix… but then I work for Brosix so that is no surprise. On previous jobs we have generally been email reliant or we just used AIM – which never made any sense since my previous political work was so prone to leaks/spying, etc.
NationHahnMemberI work for an enterprise IM company – Brosix – and I am eager to see how, where, and why instant messaging will grow in the next several years. It is a fairly old technology – as far as the web goes – and yet its popularity endures and grows. I think enterprise IM, which is still in the nascent stages, is going to be a fairly large growth sector.
I mean, we at Brosix offer secure, encrypted IM on a network of the companies design that we host on our own servers. The management can decide who is on the network, authenticate users, and generally make sure that their instant communication remains within the company. We also offer powerful collaboration tools that allow people to interact with clients or co-workers who might be across the world for all we know.
At any rate thanks for sharing the link to the study – it looks to be quite interesting.
