Did you help him with something we didn’t see??? I think the others were a bit more helpful.
OreoMemberPerhaps this is a silly question…but is there any legitamate reason to find someone’s IP address without their express permission? Why do I keep seeing these invasion of privacy questions?? Does the idea of live and let live no longer exist?
OreoMemberThanks Jeff, that is exactly what I have been trying to get across the entire time.
OreoMemberseeing as there is no way to find out who’s list you are on in the first place…I think that there is nothing that will tell you. I only ignore people who write filthy things to me or who are generally not nice (or sometimes if they are just really annoying)….so if you’ve done none of the above….I doubt you’ve been ignored.
OreoMemberlook under the posts for “invisible mode!!!!!”
OreoMembernet….these people may have added YOU to their lists w/o permission….it happened to me & people were getting around my security measures. Try going to the site that was so kindly given to me on another post…the backdoors to site….it rocks & i believe it’s on the Yahoo! messenger BBB front page. Get the names of these people (w/the the help of Y!tunnel…..then find out if they have you on their lists…….you’ll be amazed @ how many people have you. just an idea if Y!Tunnel does not help enough.
OreoMemberdon’t give up….there is an answer somewhere…..
OreoMemberis it just me or was one like this posted earlier this week?? Wild….check the other messages…..& think about respecting other people’s privacy
OreoMembersometimes…K.T. people want to be online & talk to one or two people….so there is invisible…if you don’t want 10 million IM’s from other people you may not want to talk to @ that time. Also, some people use it to use another nick, & that way people who have them on their lists don’t automatically figure out or suspect it could be the same person. 😉 Hope that answers your question.
OreoMemberAnd I am thankful for people like you out there Louis…I mean people who are intelligent and don’t mind sharing what they know… Thanks!!! You are truly appreciated! (Even when I get on my soap box and start complaining!)
OreoMemberBut the point of this was that there are indeed PROGRAMS…and I have been stalked…and take my word for it…I don’t want to hack, know how to hack or enjoy being hacked…as evidenced by by past posts. I just wanted to make people out there aware that there is more than just URL links etc…. and those of us online who are not up to nefarious activities…which I would venture to guess are most of us…. should just be aware that those sorts of programs are around. Believe it or not there are many people out there who don’t think they need protection and accept PM’s from anyone.
OreoMemberThank you for sharing your extensive knowledge on this subject. It REALLY IS appreciated. I believe I am going to take what you wrote to heart! it just goes to show there ARE some people who use their knowledge for good and not evil. Thanks again!
OreoMemberI’ve noticed that sometimes you can tell who is on in invisible mode by simply going to mail and then look in your address book. It does not always work…but it does work sometimes. I noticed by chance one time. But…I think…if someone is invisible s/he wants to be that way for a reason….so leave her/him alone… just send a message….say hello…& if s/he wants to talk or respond…you’ll get a message back. I don’t know…maybe I just respect people’s right to privacy.
OreoMemberThat IS a very informative acticle. I suggest you all take some time a read it. Thank you very much for the link!
OreoMemberIf you could not get a virus via IM’s then Y! Tunnel would not have the PM blocking that it does. Think about it! And as for me… I really don’t appreciate others asking HOW to do things that are bad for others.
