Yes you can with aiMutation and a few other programs out there and a few other ways.
Yes you create a bmp image called “tab alerts.bmp” and place it in the skin folder of the skin that you are using.
Just copy this graphic and modify the indicators with the images you want to use.
You can use Anamnesis Log Manager

Or you can do it by saving your buddy list and reloading it.
If your using AIMutation you will need to turn on the taskbar flashing in the AIMutation settings for IMs and Chats.

As far as making the the IM (tabbed) window come to the front when you click on your buddies name isn’t possible when you have “New IM’s don’t steal focus” enabled.
You still should scan your computer for adware/spyware use Adaware or another adware removal program.
Like David said AIMutation can not messup a router or cause router problems it is only an addon to AIM nothing more. For the errors you were having it would be nice to know what errors you were receiving. If you get them again be sure and post the error messages.
Sorry Jeff never got your email, what I can tell you is the original programmer of AIMutation had asked AIM-Plus to remove their program from download due to violations of copying the skinning format of AIMutation. Also, other similarities in the release of AIM-Plus to AIMutation that were too similar to be coincidence since AIMutation’s release of the source code under the GPL license.
On the LOP.com issue back when AIMutation was not offered free Alex from LOP.com had contacted the makers of AIMutation to add their software to AIMutation and pay the makers of AIMutation for the addition. Even though at the time this would have made AIMutation free the addition of adware/spyware was not an option. The offer was kindly turned down.
Whether or not AIM-Plus will reappear I do not know but, if they continue to use what appears to be AIMutation source code or skinning format and violate the GPL license, the original makers of AIMutation will continue to uphold AIMutation’s copyrights.
AIMutation has continued to remain adware/spware free.
Sorry a bug in one of the pages… fixed it you should be able to register now with no problem. I did dicuss with EM on releasing the code for the plugins but, he wanted to get AIMutation’s code released first.
Try clearing your browser cache, the forum should be setup for new accounts.
I don’t know about the plug-ins will be made open source or not.
He was going to do AIM# but, after working with VB he found that it is totally useless for making an AIM addon. So instead many of his ideas he will try and put in AIMutation. Since AIMutation maybe we can see some of the features of Middle_Man go in AIMutation too … hint… 🙂
