Well if its only when you use AIM.. then you need to open the AIM ports.
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101145.asp Go here and select your number. And it will tell you how to open a port. The ports u want to open is 5190-5193.

Do you have a router? My D-Link wireless router disconnects me on Yahoo an awful lot. Then signs me back on within the next minute or so.. It usually happens when my status is set to Away or Busy. I just opened ports 5000-5010 and it fixed it.
You have to go to My AIM > Edit Options > Edit Prefrences > Privacy. Then check the box that says “Allow people to see that I am on my mobile”
Does he have Smiley Central? If you do, go to Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel. And remove the item “My Web Search (Smiley Central)” and that should fix it.
No you don’t understand. It’s not my AIM connection I dont think. When I click Connect, the box goes away like I didnt even click it. And when someone trys to connect to me I dont even get the Accept dialog box. I’ve tried 5.9 and it does the same thing and I like 5.5 so im sticking with it. Don’t ask me to upgrade anymore because I won’t do it. lol. Anyone else have a possible solution?
