Yahoo is still down as of 9 PM EST, we are in the 5th hour of this and not sure if there is an end in sight. So, no you aren’t alone, with the millions of people all over the world wondering why their Yahoo doesn’t work. Down for 5 hours, this is very shocking for all IM fans and experts, not sure what the problem is yet. There you go, 5 hours without Yahoo 🙁
July 23, 2006 at 1:06 am #148644moraMemberHere is my quick feedback:
as of now 6 pm PDT (San Francisco) ALL (and I mean ALL) my Yahoo Services are down, including my Business email account! I am very irritated.
Edit: oh, but at least I feel better since now I know that I haven’t been hacked… small consolation…

Same here (01:00 UTC). I cannot get into my Yahoo Messenger or my email account, and also some of the pages on the Yahoo website are very slow as I write :crying:.July 23, 2006 at 1:20 am #148611NessaParticipantThe problem with some people getting their accounts locked is that when some people were trying to keep logging in the error of “invalid password” would come up even though they were using the correct password. After various attempts, Yahoo! locks the account to ensure that someone isn’t trying to take your account. So after this is why some people are unable to access their Yahoo! Mail. The error was very random, and was just one of Yahoo’s ways of saying “I’m not working right now.” For those of you with this problems i suggest not trying to log on, until you read/hear that someone has successfully logged on and that the Yahoo! server is up and running again.
As for everyone else… The wait continues!

July 23, 2006 at 1:25 am #148636GolfSawgrassMemberLOL! I love your suggestion for people to stop trying to log in to Yahoo! Messenger and just wait “until you read/hear that someone has successfully logged on and that the Yahoo! server is up and running again.” Do we have to put it to a vote as to who that person will be? LOL!
Wouldn’t it be good customer service for Yahoo! to post on their http://www.yahoo.com homepage something as inocuous as:
“Yahoo! Instant Messenger is experiencing problems. We’re hard at work on resolving the issue and will post a status here when all has been resolved.”
Good customer service? What was I thinking! Never mind… It’ll never happen… LOL!

Alright, thanks for the advice, and I think that might have happened to me, since when I first noticed that YM was not working I kept trying logging in a few times, but getting that error box, like I was using the wrong password, what I was not doing, of course… well, let’s keep waiting and see what happens *sigh*

LOL!*votes myself in* But really, i think the fact that all of us keep trying to log in, kind of screws up the Yahoo! server a bit more. As someone said, imagine all the millions of users logging in back at the same time if and when it starts working. We’ll just break it again! Or slow it down tons.

Ha, that’d be awesome, but we all know that Yahoo! Support isn’t the best, which is why we have great forums like this to help us all out! 😛

Of course you are right, they should announce the problem on the Yahoo Home Page!
And I was so enthusiastic lately about the great communication with the users that they are implementing on the 360 Service… 🙁
But it seems it works only for that Service and not all services…Edit: OK, here is my 360 Profile and Page working again… but email is still down, and I don’t want try to log on Messenger lol

After spending all afternoon and uninstalling and re-installing YM twice, I know now that the problem is with the YM server. I depend on YM to keep me in touch with my fiance in China. I didn’t realize how much I count on YM until I didn’t have it!I know this may be a little late, but you and your fiance should definitely get on at least one other instant messenger (MSN, AIM, Skype, etc) and make a plan for when yahoo is down.
Btw, YIM has been down for me for about 6-7 hours now. I don’t really know because I was talking to my gf on Skype when it went down and didn’t notice the exact time.
