MemberI woke up about an hour ago, to find 4 or 5 emails from various friends, asking if *I* knew anything.
So, a quick visit here to BBB, a reply to each with a link to this thread, and now at least everyone knows what's going on. ๐Yes, I must admit, I DO have friends who don't use BigBlueBall :crying: – but I'm slowly educating them all. ๐
Thanks Vanessa, you rock ! ๐

MemberIt would be just lovely if Yahoo could post an announcement on their site when they do this. I appreciate the maintenance, but it sure would save lots of worry and unnecessary downloading……no communication… hmmm, sounds like my job. BTW I just registered and came to this site looking for info about YIM, so Hello to All.

Glad you took your time to register and yes it's bad that Yahoo! doesn't bother to put up an announcement in their site, but which is why it's good to have sites like this that let everyone know what the heck is going on.
The confusion i knew many people would get is what caused me to start this thread, to hopefully avoid many people from worrying that they had messed up their computer or the problem was on their part not Yahoo!'s. So let's keep waiting, since the server is still down ๐
Edit: missmofie7402: welcome to BBB, as well. ๐

MemberLOL! To avoid the spectre of having been accused of “lurking” here, I'll go ahead and add my two cents worth here. Yahoo! Messenger has been down for me since at least around 5 PM ET today. I don't know precisely the time as that's when I returned home from running errands and noticed it was down.
I'm sure it's a technical problem with Yahoo! servers. My only doubt is the degree of effort Yahoo! is committing to solving a problem affecting a product that represents absolutely no income to the company. This comes at a time when Yahoo! is busy snuggling up with Microsoft in their brand new bed. I'm sure Yahoo! is investing most of their time and effort in cleaning all the carpets and polishing all the furniture so that when Microsoft makes the inevitable bid for them (name a company Microsoft has gotten this cozy with and they haven't made an offer to buy them… LOL!), the bid will be as attractive as possible.
I hate to be a pessimist about the Yahoo! dedication to resolving this issue, but facts are facts and history is a valuable teacher… especially when it comes to partnerships with Microsoft.
I guess this comment ensures me of getting the “lurker” title removed now… LOL!

Member7:30 PM here in Middle America and we're still down. I can intermittently get to the http://messenger.yahoo.com website, but often get a Timed Out response.
My Yahoo Mail Beta is working fine right now. When I visit the Yahoo Homepage (The new one) and sign in and mouse over the “Messenger” tab it says I have 5 friends online but I don't believe it is correct.

MemberI just joined BBB Forums to find why I could not sign in to YM. After spending all afternoon and uninstalling and re-installing YM twice, I know now that the problem is with the YM server. I depend on YM to keep me in touch with my fiance in China. I didn't realize how much I count on YM until I didn't have it!
