So really, I don’t see a life as a life until it’s born. A fetus lives off its mother, meaning it is living by her means, not its own lifeform in my eyes.
Somehow I knew that if one person said something along those lines, it would have been you. Surprise surprise. Anyways, I don’t belive in abortion; don’t even think it should be legal. Under no circumstances do I think you should kill your unborn baby. Just think about it, it is okay to have an abortion, but you could possibly be put to death if you kill your baby that is only a day old, kind of ironic… If you had sex and got pregnant, it is completely your responsibility (and the father’s) to take care of the baby. That’s where pre-maritial sex comes in. If teens aren’t having sex, then that virtually eliminates abortion. I know there are still older ladies wanting abortions, but most are probably from teens that had sex with their boyfriend because it is “the cool thing to do”. And who are the mother and father to decide if a child lives or not? I don’t care if the baby is inside a woman, therefore “her decision”. No, it doesn’t work like that. Obvciously that unborn baby is there for a reason, and the reason isnt so it can be killed before it is born.

MemberWell David, do you mean face the consequences as in fess up and tell your parents, or actually have the child and raise it? Sometimes I really think it is better for a mom to abort her child. If she really cannot care for it, it is better for her to make this decision than to be on welfare, which is where some of our tax money goes, to pay for kids whose parents may need help caring for them. That’s my standpoint.

They should definitely have to tell their parents, that’s just the right thing to do, and should be a law for minors, you are their responsibility.
It’s not so much that I’m against the whole concept, but if the mother cannot care for the child, she should have to go to court to get the abortion, it shouldn’t be so easy. As I said, I’m against the spread of ignorance and irresponsibility.

He ddint say that. He said that parents should be able to have a choice as to wheather they should let their child live with a possible no qualitly of life, or abort it.

Doctors are often wrong, hell, they told my parents I’d be completely blind, and never be able to do anything.

What if an ultrasound was to take place and it was found the baby was missing both arms or legs. Should the parents have the choice to abort the baby, or do they have to pay to look after it’s speacial needs and not get the choice?

MemberQwerty, that is a very extreme case in which a court order could be given to allow the abortion to happen.

It’s a life, and no life is perfect. It’s not their decision, having a child is not about perfection, and it is certainly not about choice.

MemberAnd no, court orders should not be allowed for teens. As long as you are under 18, a parent’s consent is needed not matter what.

Participantwell, I have to quote here. “I’m not going to allow a 16 year old who was raped by her father to have to ask him to get an abortion” And it is (at least in MN) legal to go to a judge if you’re under 18 and get a bypass so you don’t need to ask your parents. Of course, you have to go and prove to him that there’s a good reason.
For example, I left my parents houses by the age of 16 and had no financial, moral, emotional or otherwise backing from then, so when I got pregnant at 17, two months before I turned 18, I didn’t think they had any kind of right to know anything about me. They weren’t there when I had lived under a bridge, they weren’t there when I was hit by that car, they weren’t there when I was raped, so they didn’t have any right to know. Easy as that.Quote:quote:Originally posted by colinSomehow I knew that if one person said something along those lines, it would have been you. Surprise surprise.
All I have to say to that is this… *Flips him the bird* That’s about it. Thanks for the insult, twit. Just because I have more sense than most and lived more than most at my age and because I’m unafraid to express myself doesn’t mean that you can insult me. Piss off.

i know i’m goin back a few posts, but I had to comment on this one. if we define life as being able to sustain itself for a time on its own, where does that kick in? how long is “a time”? if that’s the criteria, then people could “abort” their two year old. how many two year olds can stay alive on their own? not many, i’d think. hell, some 10-year olds i’ve known cant keep themselves alive for more than a few hours without someone rescuing them from themselves or getting them food…
except for extreme circumstances, even if the mother cant provide for the child, I still think the kid deserves a chance. adoption is perfectly acceptable, no need to outright kill the kid unless there’s some sort of extreme physical risk to the mother
October 25, 2004 at 1:43 am #36447magistyk
MemberAgain, like I said rape and potential disabilities to the mother or child are exceptions for abortion. I believe they can be used if the parents choose to do so. However, that father raping the kid thing is an extreme case. In that case, rape would have been the cause of pregnancy therefore a court order would be given and the father should be arrested.

Hmm, so you don’t think that you are here for a reason Science? Then what may I ask is the point of you being here? I do not think that people are here for a reason, I KNOW they are. So therefore I am going to say it like it is a fact.

Creating a flame is only going to cause that other member to fly off the handle and reply back, and 99% of the time, it isn’t going to thank you for saying what you did.
Grow up :: voicing your opinion is fine.. attacking another member while doing it, obviously isn’t welcomed. -
