freddy I was trying to figure out an easier way of installing my MSN Tab, but with no luck, BUT I did manage to convert your Yahoo! Tab instructions into an installation file. Try it out – BigBlueBall Yahoo! Tab (1.11MB)
It puts in your registry entries, and puts the BBB icon in the correct folder. Users will still have to open Yahoo! Messenger, login>>preferences, “content” and add Big Blue Ball to the list after installation.
EDIT – took out those pesky spaces in the link – thanks DJ, I missed that. The install file is unneccessarily large compared to the 1 kb of info its actually installing, but I was bored and messin around, so take it or leave it, just thought it would be better for those newbies who aren’t as computer savvy as some of us.
I was going to do the same but write my own program in C to keep it small.
But I thought it was just best if the user did it themself with those files, they are then fully aware of what is going on.
A registry file/install file can also be used for automatically showing the tab, but you need the users userid for this.
shifter: You shouldn’t use spaces in web addresses. Not all browsers support this. Best would be to replace those spaces with underscores. 🙂
I had a question. I downloaded the MSN tab, but when I replaced the .xml, it doesnt show the tab in msn. (I am using 6). And I doubled checked it, and the same .xml codes are in the directory, as is in the .zip. Any ideas?
Are you sure you are in the correct directory? Sometimes there are more than one folder containing the XML file. Each folder relates to a different passport ID login.
I did notice today when I tried putting the BBB MSN Tab on a new computer that it kept refreshing back to the default tabs when i logged on. I edited it manually and it worked though. Not sure why.
I had the same problem as detn8r, then I actually READ the instructions 😉 and found that I was modifying the file in the wrong directory. I had both number folders andfolders named with my login name. I mistakenly updated the one with my login name, which of course, did nothing. I had two numbered directories (one for each of my two IDs) and eventually got it figured out.
Looks pretty good. Shifter, I’m thinking I need to pretty it up a bit, maybe add some additional links per the earlier posts in this thread, and then publish your instructions as an article here. Sound good?
Sounds excellent Jeff. Glad you got that problem sorted out. Some more forum links on the Tab would be great too! Can’t wait till you get it all together.
Use tabmanager 2003 compiler for msn 6 to make a tabinstaller.
Great, Now only if Aim would let me insert a web site as a background instead of an immage on my buddy list!

Ok, I went ahead and created an exe to install the final version of the BigBlueBall tab for Msn. I personally think it came out pretty nice. Any comments or suggestions please post them.
