MemberHelp… My yahoo id cannot sign in to yahoo messenger. Does anyone know why? I still can login to yahoo mail and others yahoo. How strange… It says that i hv incorrect id or password but i don’t. Never happen like this before… 🙁 And then i create a new id and it can sign in correctly, but my old id can’t.
In my last connection with my old id, i joined yahoo chat room and it’s said that my connection was timeout, can’t connect. I logout, but can’t login again. 🙁 🙁April 25, 2005 at 2:01 pm #120299Netti
MemberMy suggestion is to change your password. If you can still log into mail, etc. then go in your account and chance your password, then try to log in. If it still doesn’t work, you need to clean out your cache, temp, history and cookies. A lot of data is stored there and may be giving you false reports.

MemberThx 4 your suggestion. I’ve change my password from my account, still cannot sign in to msgr. I’ve also deleted my profile’s folder in folder profiles that have some profile if you login with different account. Re-install my messenger was also useless.
Is anyone hv a different suggestion?April 25, 2005 at 4:08 pm #120308UnSaKreD
MemberIt sounds to me like you have a ban on your account..
Generally they can last anywhere from 24-72 hours, possibly longer.
Best bet, call Technical Support, tell them you can not login to messenger service, but are able to login v.i.a. mail and other web services.

MemberHmmmm I can’t see how that can be banned unsakred? I mean if it’s an IP ban, they wouldn’t be able to log into another account. If it’s totally a name ban, then they couldn’t get into email either. I still think it’s the cookies, temp files, and cache that is holding the wrong data. Its the only thing that makes sense. My opinion only. lol

MemberNetti, I didnt mean an IP ban.
IP Bans would affect every yahoo service..
It is most likely an account based ban.
The Cookies aren’t stored normally when logging into yahoo messenger.
And from the sounds of it, and having seen it myself, it sounds like your account is banned from messenger.
Which generally happens if you have violated TOS

Memberyeah it seems he has a chat ban. try not to log in using that banned ID in yahoo messenger for a while, it might get fixed.

MemberI’ve tried to login from another computer that i never use before, but i still got the same condition. Any idea?
Hi miGs, you said for a while, how long does it mean?April 26, 2005 at 6:26 am #120316miGs

Hi miGs, you said for a while, how long does it mean?it depends on the violation, as unsakred said.. usually 24-72 hours. try not to log in on that ID for a week and see if that will fixed itself. remember, everytime you try to log on that banned account will prolong the ban cause the chat ban resets everytime u try to log in on that account in messenger.

MemberActually migs, the ban does not reset on each log in attempt.
Dependant on how long this is going on, you would need to contact Customer Care at Yahoo!, and explain the situation.
If they tell you, that you were in violation of their Chat TOS, ask how so?
If they mention a booter, just say your pc was hacked, and you just formatted.

Memberunsakred… well the last few posts answered my question if they tried on another computer. However my question is still that if it is still an ID ban, how can he then still log into mail? Different servers??? However, I also thought that your user name and password are also kept on your system, hense the reason some use trojans… ok but let’s skip that part of the conversation….
Guess that answered my question tho… Thanks unsakred.

well i just thought that logging in to the banned account will make their servers think its another malicious log in attempt.. anyway if it does not reset.. thanks for the information.. 😀

MemberI too signed in to Yahoo messenger today and was logged off after about 2 minutes. Upon retrying, it said my password/ID was wrong. I logged into yahoo mail ok, went to my account, changed my password and tried again. Same thing happened, it said wrong password/ID.
I can get to Yahoo email ok, and my Yahoo Groups too, but not messenger. It appears someone is blocking ID’s from messenger somehow.
If I find a way in to messenger, I’ll let you all know. Any advice is appreciated.
Edit:
I ran Spybot-Search & Destroy and deleted my cookies and Temporary Internet Files. I then went to Yahoo Messenger ‘Help’ and did this …
Why I am receiving the account locked or invalid cookies error? Please sign in using the following URL:
After successfully signing in to your account, try Messenger again. You should be all set.
……….
I signed in under invisible mode successfully !! Been 5 minutes so far and its still ok.
Hope this helps others, I hope it stays ok for me too 😀
