May 5, 2005 at 1:03 am #120318miGsMemberit seems yahoo is having problems with this locking of account lately.. yesterday i am using my ID in the morning, when i tried to enter chat, it wont let me in.. so i decided to log out and log in again.. and then there, the “invalid password” showed up and wont let me sign-in again in messenger.. but in other services i can still log-in.. so i tried everything again to just like what was said in the previous post but still no luck and another friend of mine who know nothing about PC but chat lolz :p had the same problem..

May 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #120335wright0209MemberHEY GUYS!
I HAD THE VERY SAME PROBLEM TODAY WITH MY ACCOUNT. I COULD CHECK MY EMAIL ON MY LAPTOP AND MY PC, BUT COULDN’T SIGN INTO MESSENGER. I COULDN’T EVEN GET MY HUSBAND’S ID TO WORK. IT WOULD JUST FREEZE UP AND NEVER SIGN IN. I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS MY COMPUTER AS WELL, I HAD ALSO INSTALLED A BOOTER FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY AND USED IT TWICE. I THOUGHT MAYBE MY ACCOUNTS HAD BEEN BANNED FROM CHAT FOR DOING THIS. THEN I STARTED WONDERING IF IT HAD TO DO WITH MY IP ADDRESS AND THE YAHOO CHAT FEATURES. I EVEN TRIED TO INSTALL YAHELITE, NEVER COULD GET IT TO SIGN IN. I COULD GO TO INTERNET EXPLORER AND SIGN INTO CHAT BUT SHOWED TO BE THE ONLY ONE IN THE ROOM OF 40 PEOPLE SO I KNEW THAT WASN’T RIGHT. MY HUSBAND IS AN IT MAJOR AND OVER THE YEARS I HAVE LEARNED QUITE A BIT. AFTER 5 HOURS OF TRYING EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF, I FOUND THE FIX! I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN IT SIGNED ME IN THAT I ALMOST SCREAMMED FOR JOY! ALL OF OUR ACCOUNTS LOG INTO MESSENGER NOW AND CHAT. IT TOOK ME 5 HOURS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT BUT I DID AND I’M SO FREAKING HAPPY! SCREW YAHOO!, ANYTHING CAN BE FIGURED OUT IF YOU TRY LONG ENOUGH!

May 5, 2005 at 3:39 am #120336wright0209MemberOk..many of you are having that annoying problem with yahoo where you can’t sign into messenger, but you can sign into yahoo mail. It took me 5 hours to figure this out but I’m happy to tell everyone I found the solution. There are a lot of steps involved and if you miss any of them, it will not work. I’ve been cursed with being obsessive with things like this, but it turned out for the best. Don’t wait for days to try to log on, start chatting again after 15 mins!
1) Start+Control Panel+Add or remove programs(remove EVERYTHING that has to with Yahoo)
2)Open Internet Explorer+Tools+Internet Options+Delete Cookies+Delete Files+Clear History
3)Empty recycle bin
4)Start+Search+All files and folders(Search for a word or phrase in the file and type “Yahoo)
5)Delete EVERYTHING that has to do with Yahoo(Make sure you don’t delete system files!)
6)There will be some files that you cannot delete, delete all of the other ones
7)Right click on the files that couldn’t be deleted+Properties(Uncheck the box for read-only)+Right click and delete the file and it’s folder
8)Empty recycle bin and search for “Yahoo” again to make sure you got rid of everything(if you didn’t just repeat 5,6,7)
9)If you had to delete anything else make sure to empty your recycle bin again.
10)Go to http://messenger.yahoo.com and reinstall, you’re all set!
May 5, 2005 at 1:26 pm #120329greenie3012MemberI hv done all things that u told above but i still can’t sign in 🙁
Wish u were here to help me…
Maybe i miss something to do?May 6, 2005 at 12:42 am #120320miGsMemberif after doing the above mentioned steps, and still it did not work, it means its no longer a cookie issue… yahoo chat servers have locked it for security reason…
May 6, 2005 at 4:59 am #120337wright0209MemberIf the process above does not work, yes that does mean the account has been banned/locked. These problems can be easily fixed. If you guys are interested I know of some underground sites that offer account unlockers and unbanners. Just let me know. Feel free to email me [email protected].
May 8, 2005 at 4:15 am #120334ladybirdMemberwright,

May 8, 2005 at 4:59 pm #120302NettiMemberThere are so many different reasons for people not being able to log in. Yahoo does keep a lot of information on your computer, and sometimes that information gets all jumbled up and the above cleaning will get you back in. However if you are having a server issue like most are right now, or if you have been put on a chat ban, or an ip ban, then regardless if you clean all this out, it won’t do any good.
Your IP or your ID has been put on a ban list, and if you are on a 4 hour ban, 6, 8, 24, or permanent ban, then the only thing you can do is wait. Some people have been place on what we think is a permenant Chat Ban. Which means you can log into mail, games, etc, but nOT messenger.
The new issue is as if someone has you on auto kill. But no new accounts created will stay logged in.
I see from the Yahoo site that they have removed any help files for any version under 6.0, so you can almost bet that they are updating their servers, and apparently have some major glitches.
May 8, 2005 at 5:17 pm #120331kickMemberi read on another forum that theres a disgruntled ex yahoo employee not sure how true it is but it said he was going round locking users accounts just to piss people off now i am wondering why wouldn’t yahoo cancel his access to there systems ? if this is true surely they wouldn’t be foolish enough to let him still gain access?
i know yahoo’s security leaves a lot to be desired with the idiots on it and all the childish booting etc but surely they could tell if he is doing this?????
i still can’t access my accounts so some i permanently deleted incase this idiot was attempting to use them
i’ve been using yahelite because of a problem with a simple minded fool in the fight rooms who has made it his lifes ambition to boot me on sight he spends hours sitting there flooding me to boot me but i return lol
I think its time yahoo asked some responsible users to be CO-ADMINS on its chat program with the power to block/ban abussive users and clean it up i’d be willing to give some time to clean out these idiots for free i could see a lot of them really pissed off being locked out lol
it works well on paltalk !!! theres very few idiots on thereMay 11, 2005 at 3:56 am #120338SavannahMemberI’m having this problem.
Yesterday, I was goofing around and decided to see how many accounts I could log into one chatroom (using both YahElite and Yahoo! Messenger). I got about four different accounts in, then they were all disconnected and locked.
I can still log into Mail/Profiles/My Yahoo using the accounts– everything except Chat and Messenger. I also have other accounts that weren’t affected and still log into Chat fine, so obviously my IP isn’t banned, just the four accounts.
I understand that doing this was probably something to warrant having my accounts locked, but my question is what should I do about it? I e-mailed Yahoo about one of the accounts and they sent me the same form letter they send everyone. It’s been well over 24 hours since the accounts were locked. Will they be unlocked in a few more days? Should I try to contact Yahoo or wait it out? Or is there anything I can do to get my accounts back?
I’d try Wright0209’s suggestion, but I really don’t want to lose the PM conversations I have stored in my message archive.

Messenger, just put it back in the Yahoo! folder..:)
