Savannah, After doing what Migs suggested, then follow the instructions above to clean out all your files. You have overloaded some of the yahoo files, and need to get those cleaned out to get rid of the errors. Good luck.

Earlier, I was able to sign onto one of the accounts for a few minutes (before I reinstalled), but since chat wasn’t working, I exited Messenger and when I tried again, the account was re-locked.
I don’t think it’s a problem with Messenger files, since the accounts won’t work on YahElite either.
UGH.

then again, it is another yahoo chat ban… and lets just hope that Yahoo! will work on this problem at the soonest possble time.
May 11, 2005 at 11:59 pm #120304NettiMemberSavannah,
I know you’ve said that you have deleted all yahoo files, etc. and reinstalled, but as I’ve found out thru many others in chat, this is NOT enough. There are many other places on your computer where files are located, and those files need to be deleted, or they confused yahoo.
I would agree with Migs, if you were only talking about ONE ID, but I can almost bet, that if you created a brand new name today, you would have the same problem.
You need to follow the steps in the following post, exactly in order to clean out your system.

Then come back and let us know if it works.

It isn’t that ALL my accounts are defunct– just the four I logged into chat at the same time. I have other accounts that still work fine, and I just created a new one– it works fine as well.
May 12, 2005 at 11:49 am #120305NettiMembersavannah then I would say you have a chat ban. This can last from 4 hours to 48 hours, if you were running any type of huge multi-log in mass iggy program, I’ve seen ppl who were on a chat ban for 2 weeks. They can log into email, games, etc. but not messy.
If you’ve tried all these things, the only other thing to do is wait.

May 12, 2005 at 6:03 pm #120311SS_AntiHackerMemberHi everyone =)
I’m not sure if this will fix the problem for you guys, this problem can have thousands of causes to it, but I hoped I can help. First off all, make sure you log out of every service(s) from Yahoo!, including your Yahoo! Messenger. Now go into http://login.yahoo.com and sign in, but make sure you don’t check the box “Remember my ID on this computer”. As soon as you successfully log in through the web site. Now log into your Yahoo! Messenger, also don’t have it remember your ID and password. Now sign out of Yahoo! Messenger and then exit the program entirely. Next is for you to log out of Yahoo! web site by clicking on Log Out.
I hope this work for you guys, and also make sure your computer is clean, as not having any viruses, spywares, trojans, keylogger, etc.
Please come back with a result =)
Good luck
May 12, 2005 at 11:16 pm #120324miGsMemberactually, i tried my newly recovered ID on other PCs, but same results.. i tried it using YM or Chat clients but no luck. I also tried the ID of my friend that is also a newly recovered one from being locked, but same results.
Also, i have no problem logging-in my other IDs in Y!Messenger and entering chatroom. So i guess, its kinda “chatroom” ban (just my opinion)…
May 13, 2005 at 7:13 am #120312DermotParticipantSounds like a chat ban..
Try this,
Go to http://login.yahoo.com/ and login the locked out id.
then open a new browser window and to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/mesg-25.html
go to the “If you are able to sign in to My Yahoo!, but cannot access Yahoo! Messenger, please use this http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/mesg/cgi_log ” part and fill out the form stating that your id can login to all yahoo web interfaces but not chat and supply the e-mail that is registered with the locked id.
The feedback form will “record” what id was logged into the current browser “why i said login first” and will record your browser type and your IP address and what e-mail you used.
With this extra info yahoo can tell you own the id and that you were logged into the page with the id when you filed the complaint and they will unban it a lot quicker.
Hope this helps.

May 16, 2005 at 10:01 pm #120325miGsMemberyeah my ID was previously locked, but i have got it back. the problem now is i cant make it enter a chatroom, wether thru messenger or the web browser (chat2.0 or java).
I have uninstalled, clean my registry, cookies, rebooted before and after installing YM again, but still did not work. only that particular account that was locked before that i cannot log-in. also, i have friends that also have the same problem.. that once they got their locked ID, they cant make it to enter chatroom.
Any workaround on this matter?
May 17, 2005 at 3:39 am #120313DermotParticipantThe above post i made was the “ban” you have
Yahoo ban’s work via the chat servers only
Meaning you can login fine …but you can’t log into the chat servers.
You have to ask yahoo to remove it from the blacklist.
This can take 2 or three e-mails the way i said…and they will remove you from the blacklist and you will be able to enter the chat servers again.
a simple lockout is just a login lockout to stop crackers…which requires you to enter your pass and id with a security word to unlock.
Chat bans are not as easy to remove.
do what my last post said and you should have yur id back working in a few days.
May 29, 2005 at 2:56 am #120342CuddlesMemberGo figure I am having the same problem. I can log into the websites but I cant log into messenger. I’ve tried cleaning everything and uninstalled yahoo and then reinstalled yahoo and no go it never helped.
May 30, 2005 at 1:45 pm #120314DermotParticipantit seems yahoo! decided to remove http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/mesg-25.html from their help pages…i wonder why…lol
The later link of http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/mesg/cgi_log still works tho 🙂
This link is were you report your banned id.
Still following the directions above.
