KeymasterHG, you tried all of the suggested solutions? It’s impossible to help if you don’t provide a little more detail about your problem, your environment (OS, router, hardware config) and what the symptoms are.

MSN Messenger is seemly having connection problems giving errors of all sorts. We are aware of the problems today. Unfortunately there is nothing we can provide help on as of right now other than simply wait for word, or keep trying.March 12, 2004 at 10:36 pm #88996raz0r

ParticipantHi Guys
Now I have spend the last two days to read through all your suggestions regarding MSN messenger up to 12/3-2004, but nothing helps for me.
I keep getting the error code 0x81000301.
I have read the links you have putted out etc…and I dont have any other ideas now.
I worked fine with my messenger until yesterday where I said yes to do an update and since then it has all gone wrong. I have uninstalled, installed again, did the different, runs, checjed the internet settings, my clock and dates, made a new net. passport account, downloaded zone alarm etc….I really hope one of you have a magic solution.
Thanks in advance.

Shall I uninstall MSN and install 6.0 again??
Problems seemed to start when I got MSN 6.1 this morning…

ParticipantNow I sorted out my problem. I uninstalled my firewall Agnitum, so now my version 6.1 works again.

MemberI have gotten the same issue several times. Things I have tried include:
1. Rebooting my internet equipment(Cable Modem, Linksys Router, Comptuer)
2. Signed into hotmail account and then tried messenger (it worked after doing this, coincodence?)I have talked with people who were having difficulties getting to any MSN, or Hotmail websites. After discussing it with them we came to the conclusion to try changing the cable modem out. This corrected their issue. I have no idea if this will work with DSL equipment or not, but I have heard of DSL customers having the same sort of issue. I don’t know if some kind of routing table gets set in the modem and it screws it up I don’t know but if you can’t get to MSN or Hotmail and you’ve tried everything try getting a different broadband modem or bypassing your internet router.
Hope this helps

MemberI solved it the following way:
1) Uninstall MSN Messenger
2) Delete the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/MSNMessenger
3) Install latest MSN MessengerNow it works.
