MemberHi guys,
After installing 6.1 I got serious problems. Have been struggling with the same problem all weekend as Des40 reports, same code, same OS etc. I even went into the registry to make a complete uninstallation and reinstalled 6,1 with the same result.
Finally I switched on my zonealarm (which someone in this forum suggested) which has been switched off some weeks due to other problems and to my surprise it worked out. I would of course prefer that the system should work with or without zone alarm byt anyway, now it is working although I don’t consider it to be a longterm solution.
Any suggestion how to overcome this would be appriciated.November 3, 2003 at 3:26 am #88948dieorlie

MemberHad the same problem. Trillian, Yahoo or Aim wouldn’t work. IE. worked fine. Disabled all firewalls, no luck. Reinstalled all IMs, no luck. Got pissed and reinstalled Windows and everything is fine now. (Man, I love that new install feel. Wish it was that fast all the time.)

Participantdieorlie, your problem is completely different.
Micorosft has idientifed each error with a specific number code.Zone Alarm is a program that protects your computer from hackers. You do not have it unless you installed it.
For the ones still continuing to havethis problem, remove Windows Messenger. Unless your using it for whiteboard, you dont need it. If your using it to run two messengers together, download the polygamy patch, or download Messenger 6.1 Windows X, as where it includes one.
Please remove Windows Messenger, then report back.
To remove it, use the search utility.November 5, 2003 at 9:16 pm #88934monkey tamer

Memberi’ve been having the same problem, i try to connect, and msn replies, that something is either worong with my internet connection, or something is wrong with the service.
My friends can still loggin though.
i think something is either wrong, with the MSN serivice itself, as i’ve tried to loggin on my other computers in my house, and the same problem occurs -
