Mr. Heavy – Yours sound like a logical solution, since the file in question is the one causing the hang-up (it’s in my case), the problem is/has been that I do not have that file in my system… back to square one. Thanks, anyway.

February 7, 2005 at 2:48 pm #57652oldfellaMemberEmail sent… but I must tell you, I am a bit skeptical because I’ve tried just about everything for the past four (4) months without success; some “fixes” work for some people, but it hasn’t been the case for me. Thanks.

February 13, 2005 at 3:07 pm #57653oldfellaMember…As I have said before – some fixes work for some, some not at all; I have been trying to fix that problem for the past four months – tried all of the fixes here and the ones suggested by the Big Guys at Microsoft… nothing has worked for me.

When you get to the error message, don’t click OK. Go to your start menu and open Messenger. Now all you have to do is Ctrl-Alt-Del and end task on the isntallation software. This causes to not uninstall the files that were previously installed.
If you can’t open Messenger after you closed it, try this other solution. When you get to the error message, copy paste the folder C:Program FilesMSN Messenger to MSN Messenger2 . Close the installation software with Ctrl-Alt-Del and rename the folder to MSN Messenger. Then create your own shortcuts.
It didn’t work on my computer with Messenger 7.0 beta but you can try it.
I’ll be damned, Now I can install 6.2 without any problems, but still can’t install 7.0 beta. Tip: don’t install beta versions!!!
email me for any comments or questions: [email protected]
Thanks bxnapkin your solution helped, well kinda….I did the ctrl+alt+dlt and then reran the installation and it installed then I logged on to msn but it wouldnt let me and error code 0x81000370 came up. I went on this site called msn-problems and they gave me something to download to fix the error and it worked. HURRAY FINALLY!!!!No more errors for a day or two.February 15, 2005 at 4:06 pm #57673nazmizMemberhey if this is the error you get it means something in the registry is not correct.
in fact the error i got was “could not access network location:_myIPSharedDocsMy pictures”
i tried tons of solutions (windows 2000) posted on this site and others and the only one that worked was the following:click on run, type regedit
click on edit, find (or ctrl-f) and search for the location that couldnt be found.
Look for the one realted to msn and delete that value!
believe me it works!February 15, 2005 at 5:24 pm #57674dakim007MemberWackyguy18 wrote:I also had the problem of Installing MSN 6 because of 1603 error. I figured out that a pop up stopper program of mine was causing this.. If you have ad-aware 6 and have ad-watch activated, right click the icon in the taskbar and chose terminate, then install..If this helped anyone plz tell me, I want to know if this was actually causing it. Thanks!
This resolved my issue! Thanks for the help. This has been driving me crazy for about a week now.

February 24, 2005 at 9:41 pm #57678DoddeMemberi had that problem. and read all posts here. none worked. then by mistake i read of error 11708 posted by the MSI. that one said that the decompression folder had to long name. so i took the install file, moved it to a folder with shorter name, unrared it with winrar and ran the bootstrap.exe file. and woula.
worked fine.so god bless alcohole 140% becouse it was there i found the error.
