KeymasterI was so upset! I saw the Germany-Sweden game, but was busy during the Mexico-Argentina match so I set my DVR to record it… but missed the overtime! Argh!

ParticipantI’m so mad I didn’t get to see any of this! Stupid (but fun) vacation. Well, I’ll have to look at later games.

MemberAny of you guys having trouble to watch the matches live on TV? If any of you guys need any help regarding watching the matches LIVE on your computer without paying a dime, please let me know and I can post a link up here.
Also, using that particular software today for the first time, I realized that you can even record matches and save them on your hard drive.

MemberI agree!
I’ve scoured the internet to no avail, looking for live feeds – even audio – but to avail. BBC has audio feds, but they are accessible only to internet users in the UK.
I’ve heard there is something available through a Chinese website, but never found it.
So YES, Neo – please enlighten us. 🙂June 25, 2006 at 1:39 pm #146050Jeff Hester
KeymasterArgentina v Mexico. WHAT a game! That was the most exciting match I’ve seen in the World Cup so far. Incredible! I was happy Argentina won. They deserve it.

MemberThis has been a really great cup…so many of the matches have been really good. I look forward to a great final! (I expect Spain v. Argentina will be a great match :D)

ParticipantWay to go England! Since USA lost I’ve been following up with England since they were one of the few, and way to go! Let’s watch them win.

ParticipantEngland – Equador 1-0
I don’t like England not for any other reason, but cause they just play unattractive football, really anyone that saw today’s match either fell asleep or changed channel.
The match would probably be different if Equador hadn’t missed that great chance to score before Englan’s goal. And the goal of course was the typical one: Free kick by Beckham, it’s in. I don’t care if they win cause the thing is to see something worth watching and enjoy and England definitely hasn’t offered that so far.
While Argentina, Spain, and -why not- Germany as well have shown that.Portugal – Netherlands 1-0
Did you guys watch this match? Didn’t it seem more like boxing or wrestiling or karate game :p Not one, not two, but FOUR players were sent off, two from each team. And all the rest got yellow cards as well lol. They lost control, but I believe Portugal deserved the victory and qualified, they are a better team than Netherlands.
England – Equador highlights
Portugal – Netherlands highlightsSo far we have these two pairs in the quarter finals:
Argentina – Germany
England – PortugalTomorrow we’ll watch Italy vs Australia and Switzerland vs. Ukraine.

KeymasterWell after today’s Australia v Italy game I am officially convinced that the referees in this world cup only favor European countries. That was the most disappointing game with a penalty shot tha was uncalled for. My best wishes are for the three non-european teams left, Brazil, Argentina, and Ghana.

ParticipantItaly – Australia 1-0
I will have to agree and disagree as well. That penalty was so fake, these penalties are not called even in a highschool’s soccer tournament. Totally disgraceful. And the referee was pretty close to the scene..
We have to be fair though. When that Italian defender took a red card and got sent off it was kinda harsh, it shouldn’t be a red card but a yellow at most. Australia on the other hand had the chance to finish the game while playing with more players in the field for half an hour but they didnt manage to be very threatening and their coach did bad to put John Aloisi to play just 10 minutes before the end and not earlier, when they already had the advantage and finish off the Italians.
Of course that doesn’t justify the referee’s outrageous decision in the end..I’m not sure though that the referres are pushing the European teams so far, or if they are just bad. And that’s cause in Ghana-USA there was another ridiculous penaltly called against USA that helped Ghana qualify.
Switzerland – Ukraine 0-0,
The game went into overtime and then to penalty kicks where Ukraine beat them 3-0. Switzerland didnt manage to score a single penalty kick!Italy – Australia highlights
Switzerland – Ukraine highlightsSo the third quarter-finals pair is:
Italy – Ukraine
Tomorrow’s final matches before the quarter finals begin, are:Brazil – Ghana
Spain – France

The Switzerland – Ukraine game was like pulling teeth, thank heavens I had a decent book to read while it was on :0)

Member“That Penalty” broke MY heart, and probably those of most Kiwis here!
But I figure – with replay-assisted hindsight – that it probably was a fair 50/50 call (even though it WAS a “dive” 😉 )
Oh well, guess I just swing back to following/supporting Beckham’s Bunch again.
