Something that is working well here (actually if you look for Willie Nelson-yup the country star for many years you’ll find it) is something from Soy Beans. It is working quite well and is a naturally renewing energy. (Plus SOOO much less pollution…and I’m ALL for cutting down pollution!) As my father mentioned to me yesterday, maybe people will start giving renewable energies a chance now that oil is getting so high…it’s a good kick in the behind for those who poo-pooed renewables in the past.Sorry I was ignorant of the water powered car idea and so the case with the efforts made for reducing pollution but this is also a truth that only a few people are practicing these good ideas and habits. Now there is a need for general awareness, governments must have to come forward and play a vital role.It’s time for renewable energies we must have to adopt them, develop new techniques if ignorant we all are going to face big trouble. But that all is on the part of government, research institutes, large firms, industrialists.Question is what can we do? We the general public… There is need of awareness. In 1998 when India and Pakistan tested their nuclear weapons, whole world turned against both countries and both of the nations were facing economic sanctions. At that time India was facing great problems in its Oil imports. The transport association of India decided that on traffic signal all the vehicles must be switched off to reduce oil consumption. Generally vehicles stay on traffic signals for 15 to 30 seconds, the estimated Oil consumption reduced was worth 500,000,000 Indian Rupees. The whole Indian nation practiced this and they saved millions.
But opposite to this look at the traffic flow on any road in USA, the vehicles are creeping; they are doing a few miles 5 to 10 km an hour because there is too much traffic on the roads You need to build new highways, over passes, under passes, re-plan your traffic infrastructure but the more you need is general awareness, if possible people can walk or travel in public transport, use less power consuming vehicles. For example, here in Asian countries people are using motorbikes for their daily activities, they prefer a motorcycle to car because it cost them less, it also not become a burden on their budget. A typical car has an average of 15 to 22 Kilometers per liter petrol. While there are small bikes of 70 cc those can travel up to 65-to 75-km/liter petrol.
Situation is getting worst with the luxurious life style of developed/rich countries where every body wants to have his own car. See you all have got the cars but… in future many of you would not get the fuel. 😉
The gas price at my station jumped last night to $118.9 ($1.19) per letre. I’m not really sure how to do this, but that’s about $4.52 cents? That’s for regular.
The 92 octane we carry is $130.9, which is about $4.97. My math might be wrong, so someone may correct me 😉
But anyways, the aftermath of Katrina are hitting us above the border already. And it’s too bad because we were supposed to see a drop in price after the long weekend 🙁
Hurrican Katrina bumped gas prices up 30 cents or so per gallon, I believe? $3.30 is what it’s at around here x_X. I’m glad I don’t drive or own a car. They got two years to figure out something cheaper than gas…
I was on the shuttle to class today, and I saw a price at the Uni-Mart for $2.89. I definately will NOT be going home anytime soon. I can’t afford to fill up my car.
Sarah, I believe in the US diesel fuel costs more than regular. Well, every gas station I’ve ever been to, diesel was waaaaaaaay higher than regular.

Well here in ole newyork it cost me 3.09 per gallon to fill me baby!!! Whew it took 27 gallons do the math. I am thinking while I sweat I use 445 gallons a month to heat the ole homestead. If my home heating oil hits over 3.00 a gallon thats a whopping 1300 hunge a month!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess sweaters are a must this year…….. Still cruisin with my cars no matter the cost
Bostich ….Pakistan also has a rise in prices because of the rise in world market today, it’s about 3 dollar now for per gallon petrol.
Something tells me many trees are going to feel the rise in heating oil prices this winter. Poor little trees…they had nothing to do with all of this. 🙁 People here are actually getting mad at station attendants and driving off without paying for their gas. But there are much worse things than this….like being stuck in the hurricane areas, I heard that the air pollution laws were going to be recinded in that area until the 15th of September so they can mass produce gas….so not only will these people have to deal with the dead and health emergency there…they will also have to deal with poor air. So really…in comparison to what COULD be happening….paying a bit more at the pump is nothing…at least I have a car and a road that is passable
So okay, here we go again…
Was riding the shuttle to class yesterday around 12:15 pm…saw that gas was now $3.02 at the Uni-Mart…
Drove by the Uni-Mart around 7 pm and saw that gas went up 17 cents to $3.19. I figured I might as well fill up now, and have that tank last me like 3 weeks (or more) up here at school. I can only imagine what the prices will be after the holiday this weekend…

Not as great as hybrids, but still, much better with efficiency as far as gas goes than standard cars. But, it does require more oil changes, produce more pollution (though much cleaner than they used to be), and also diesel cars are harder to find these days. Heh…though I did know one kid who was stupid enough to put diesel in his car. *snickers* I guess he didn’t understand the differences. *thumbs up for living with a bunch of mechanics!*
by the way, I went to school last wednesday. it jumped from 2.35 to 2.60. I got out of classes three hours later and it jumped to 2.99. it stuck at 2.99 for 8 hours before dropping to 2.89, back up to 2.99 the next day…and today I saw most still at 2.99, but there were some as low as 2.75. *shrug* Meh, we’ll see. Needless to say, Josh bought a $50 bike and rode to work today. Only downside: Sami got to listen to him complain for a couple hours after work and worked her little massagin’ hands to the bone. But hey, it’s cheeper than driving every day.
I find it funny that a local gas station around here doesnt have thing for “3” so you see gas prices its like 3.19. They have to use a little sticker on top of the “1”… poor one, probably won’t get used again :(. And yes it is really 3.19 in my tiny town in Ohio.
Well from my newest claculations on the price of petrol over here in the UK, I can tell you that petrol is currently (well on Friday when i last saw the price of petrol) on average costing about $6.47 a gallon, and speculation in the papers suggests that by Monday it is expected that the price will rise so that it will cost about $7 a gallon, whether that’s going to happen I don’t know…
it’s times like this when I’m glad I don’t have a car.
