MemberDoesnt matter, as long as it runs. I got DSL and the guys from MSN hooked the extension on to the wrong phone line and we didnt know so we spent like 2 months trying to fix it. Those were my only bad days of dial up because you see the DSL kit sitting there going to waist and you cant do anything about it. Especially when you know if you only knew what was wrong you could fix it and get 10x your current internet speed.

I had a similar experience. I had the self-install kit, and the Cox guys didn’t set everything up (on the pole) (Removing the HSI filter I think) so I had to wait 3 days before they came to fix it.
I now get 40x what I got on dial-up. (I had fast dial-up at 50.2kbps too)
The thing I love most about Cable is the always-on connection. The speed is SWEET, but I just couldn’t stand dialing in, and getting kicked off after 4.5hrs.

Your download speed : 1686633 bps, or 1686 kbps.
A 205.8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 206782 bps, or 206 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier! The rate is approximately 8.192419825 kbits per kbyte. Not bad! What is considered high for the upload speed in kbps?

Are you sure its not about 400 KB/sec and not 400 kbps? As in my post above it says “2763 kbps. A 337.3 KB/sec transfer rate.”
That means I get about 337.3 KB/sec speed when downloading stuff… to be at 400 kbps seems petty slow, Im not sure exactly how its calculated…but that would mean your top download speed would be about 50 KB/sec… If thats what it really is, then ouch.. you need a better cable provider.

ParticipantSeems to be working again.
I just teated my schools beastly connections, here’s what I got:
Quote:quote:Your download speed : 1529931 bps, or 1529 kbps.
A 186.7 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 1127819 bps, or 1127 kbps.I shall test on my shat dial up, later tonight.
February 4, 2004 at 11:11 pm #58820detn8r
ParticipantWell, I just tested my dial up speed, and I’m embarrassed to post it.
Quote:quote:2004-02-04 17:04:19 EST: 9 / 16
Your download speed : 9974 bps, or 9 kbps.
A 1.2 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 16254 bps, or 16 kbps.Your upload speed is much faster than down.. have you tweaked?
Your connection hardly qualified as broadband, at least in that testApparently once we get another 10 subscribers, we are going to be putting in wireless internet. I’d be less than 500 feet from the transfer tower. 4-5mbit speed…. thats damn fine for 45 bucks canandian/month.
