I just downloaded Kazaa two days ago, and downloaded three songs so far, and every time I do some shuffling files, or browsing on the net, my songs seem to skip as if they were CD’s that are scratched .. any ideas why they do that?

June 28, 2002 at 4:23 am #68078detn8rParticipantSo how would I fix that problem? Only play them when I’m not doing anything?
June 28, 2002 at 4:39 am #68073AnnaParticipantWell ummmm…. 2.5 Options….
1. Go buy some more RAM.. it’s pretty cheap now a’ days…. You should have about at least 200 MB… that’s a pretty decent sum these days…
or
2. Play your songs that you downloaded on KaZaA off your HD on another media application; like RealPlayer/RealOne, Windows Media Player, WinAmp etc…………..
or
.5 If you want…. do what you suggested…… play your audio and don’t do anything else at the moment…. freeing your songs to play….

June 28, 2002 at 4:48 am #68077detn8rParticipantI do play them on Windows Media Player… and yes my RAM is pretty bad… (32MB)
June 28, 2002 at 5:15 am #68072AnnaParticipant32 MB?!
Well there you go then… that’s your problem……… RAM is pretty cheap these says as I previously mentioned…
I have 320 megs of RAM and I still sometimes have the occasional skip… (on RealOne)ps. If you’re not going to update your RAM…. don’t run as many programs at once then…..

June 28, 2002 at 6:01 am #68071AnnaParticipantIBM my arse!
Those buck a day commericals are too good to be true. I used to have a pretty outdated combo too. But I just remodled the entire HW section….
oh.. I guess the whole thing….
was cheaper than buying a new computer…. and better because I get to choose exactly what brands of HW I want and everything. But if you’re disabled when it comes to putting the hardware in. Sorry, yer out of luck….. I do all mine on my own which made it cheaper….

These days 128MB is a good starting point. More is better.

June 30, 2002 at 8:12 pm #68079DrachenMemberI would have to say that the best computers (if you know what you are doing…. I do…heheheh) is to build them yourself.. I say this mainly cause:
1. YOU choose what you want in your computer…(HW, SW, OS)
2. If you don’t like it, it’s your fault………BUT there is one downfall…. you don’t have the “big ppl” (IBM, DELL) to give you that huge warranty.. Then you have to depend on your own skills and whatever warranty that you can get with the parts….

Or free warranty. The cost to repair those 10 % or returns is built into your purchase price. If thats a ‘downfall’ of self builds then I’ll stick to self building computers.

October 13, 2003 at 8:56 am #68087prncssshckrMemberSo no one’s posted here in a while, but i figured i’d try anyway… 🙂
I have the same problem with my music skipping. I have downloaded and used Winamp. I have also tried using Windows Media Player. But not only my MP3s skip. My cd’s skip when i play them in my cd player. I know i have sufficient ram (512 mb) so what could the problem be?
