I was just running the mile the other day in Athletics, and I got my all-time best! I got a 6:24. I am very slow, and only 14, so this was really exciting for me. So I was just wondering, what is YOUR best mile time? Or any personal record you want to share.
December 11, 2004 at 1:26 am #108289Hurricane22491MemberI don’t think 6:24 is that slow. I haven’t really run my hardest during a mile for a while now, and the best I got was 6:43, back in 6th grade.
December 11, 2004 at 1:46 am #108293AwesomeSauceParticipant6:24?! that’s awesome! I haven’t ran the mile for a while, last time I think I got 8 minutes and something-seconds… however, I think if I ran the mile now, I could probably get 8 minutes or less, around the 7-minute range. Almost all of my friends were faster than me, but now I’ve got really long legs, and I’ve been able to outrun about all of them. Well, I have gym next semester, so maybe I’ll get to see by then.
December 11, 2004 at 4:01 am #108310camsterMemberI can go a lot faster than this, but all the other times I went fast I was usually going longer than a mile since I’m in Cross Country. I wasn’t used to running a mile, so I wasn’t sure how to pace myself and I got 7:36. I’ll make sure to update this once I try again when Track season starts.
December 11, 2004 at 5:08 am #108284OreoMemberOhhh…”THE MILE” I remember running that in school…I was usually the one in front of the kid that could hardly walk without gasping for air. Yeah, I was the one that held up the WHOLE gym class because I took so long to come in. Thanks for bringing back those memories of school. (Just kidding…I don’t mind that anymore…it’s kind funny when I look back and think what my gym teachers throughout school must have thought of me. I look like I should be fast…but I’m not really.)
December 11, 2004 at 5:59 am #108295colinMemberHaha, I’ve always been slow, just one day I had to run a mile, and I just ran with my friend, and he’s fast. I ended up getting a 6:52 (which was REALLY good for me at the time) and I have just gotten better the last few times I’ve ran it. What’s funny is that I am STILL really slow in sprints. Guys that have 30 pounds on me can beat me! Kinda sad, because I’m an athlete too, and am supposed to be fast/strong etc
December 11, 2004 at 6:24 am #108290Dr KimbleParticipantHa ha, try running THREE miles y’all! That is the life of a cross country runner. I don’t know my fastest mile, but my fastest ever three mile was 21:59
I cannot do that anymore now though :o)
December 11, 2004 at 11:52 am #108291QwertyMemberHow many metres is a mile? Does anyone know offhand?
December 11, 2004 at 2:07 pm #108281Jeff HesterKeymaster1 mile = 1609.344 meter (The meters is rounded off by the way but it’s approximately that)
I think you do better when you’re younger. Depending on whether you exercise a lot I suppose. Anyway I was a pretty average runner when doing the mile and I was 13. Funny I started running faster because my motivation to improve was this pretty girl (she ran very fast) and I wanted to catch up with her…heh…that was dumb but hey at least I improved my running time, ended up being like 6:47. I was proud.
December 12, 2004 at 8:40 pm #108285DaJMan1800Membergrr… 8:13 is my latest. Yes, it does suck, but I’m not the type that gets up early on weekends to run 5 miles, i’m the kind who gets up late on weekends, drives 5 miles, and practices with the band. :p
But that is an old time, I could probably get something in the high 7’s.
December 16, 2004 at 3:43 am #108319littlefaster23MemberI just turned 15 and I’m not really sure of my best mile. I ran a 5:30 jogging first hour in Gym class a few months ago. It was sooooo cold and windy out and I had the Conference championships for Cross Country that afternoon. My best 5k was somewhere in the upper 18’s, I never felt like I could get into a rhythm…Kind of frustrating.
December 16, 2004 at 3:53 am #108312cuteb0mberchickMemberwhen I tried my hardest to run without walking I got 10minutes but when I don’t try my hardest and I walk like alot I got 8minutes and 30 seconds isn’t this weird?
December 16, 2004 at 3:56 am #108296colinMemberHaha, it’s okay. Girls aren’t supposed to be fast.
December 16, 2004 at 4:02 am #108320littlefaster23MemberThere are many, many, many girls that could beat a 6:24. I know quite a few personally. I don’t know how to take a generalization like that and I rather not start an argument. No one is supposed to be fast whether it be boys or girls. The fast ones have a talent.
December 16, 2004 at 4:15 am #108297colinMemberPlease simmer down littlefaster! What does your name mean anyway, you get mad a little faster than other people? I was just playing about the girl thing.
Edit: And ACTUALLY, according to these world records that I found, girls ARE slower in the mile than guys. The fastest a man has ran a mile is 3:43.13 in 1999. Fastest for a girl is 4:12.56 in 1996.
