so whats up with the historical?
December 18, 2004 at 1:42 am #108304colinMemberOk, if you are going to use this forum, can the questions that you ask please actually ask something. What “historical” are you talking about?
December 18, 2004 at 1:51 am #108318cuteb0mberchickMemberfor god sake read your damn posts!!!!!!!!!!
December 18, 2004 at 2:06 am #108287RabidKittenParticipantAlright, I do have to admit that Bomber has a history of making posts that have ruffled feathers, but sometimes you just have to chalk it up to that some people don’t know that what they say offends or chalk it up to the fact that reading sarcasm or humor can be hard in just plain text. The same goes for Colins joke. It was a joke, and really I think that appologies are in order. He admitted it was a joke, and therefore if it offended someone, he’s appologized and stressed that it was just in jest, so appologies are needed in return here for getting bent out of shape over a joke. Also for any other hurtful words.
Bomber, if you meant nothing by comparing me to him, then simply say “I’m sorry I made you feel that way, that was not my intention.” and be done with it, and I’m sorry that my statement of my time was somehow turned against you and made you upset, colin, that surely was not -my- intention. As for the “historical” she was talking about, I believe she was talking about your statement of the fastest times and also the intelligence of a man being greater than a woman, which was, at least to me as well, a bit of a sting. Nobody likes to admit that they’re under another, especially in these ‘gender wars’ of today.
Of course, if it’s any consolation, bomber, you have to remember that women weren’t tested or allowed to try their best for centuries, and so even if there is no record of a woman being faster or more intelligent, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t one, just that people were so close minded and male oriented that they were oppressed into nothingness. Also, many intelligent people were concidered insane in the old old days, and women of intelligence were a threat and often put to death, in asylums or burned. So while it isn’t in record, there is still a possibility of women being mens equals in all sorts. Heck, even today many countries don’t allow women to run in the olympics, regardless of how good they are. So in some cases it’s not a matter of men or women being better because they aren’t given a chance. *shrug* just something you have to remember and be smug about, heheh.December 18, 2004 at 2:29 am #108305colinMemberCouldn’t have said it better myself Sam. And no, I know that you didn’t mean for your time that you posted to get me mad. I think its cool that you got a 6 flat in, 6th grade was it?
December 18, 2004 at 2:46 am #108288RabidKittenParticipantYeah I was a speed demon *wink* of course, I’ve slowed down in my old age *clings to her cane and eats her prunes* I have a problem with my knees and such so they’ve kind of given out on me so whenever I run they hurt, but hey, back in my prime…when…when the time…and you could… *dozes off… … …snore*
December 18, 2004 at 3:09 am #108282AnnaParticipant9 minutes and something. I remember usually getting in the 12-13 minutes though.
However my best time for swimming 1.25 miles was 00:12:34 (the max time to still qualify as a lifguard is 00:14:00). Maybe not that impressive, but I felt pretty damn good about it. Plus I got certified. 🙂

Awesome about the swimming thing. I’ve never been much of a swimmer. Maybe that’s because I am rather slow at it. For me, swimming is fun, and nothing more. I definitly could not swim 1.25 miles straight without stopping.
December 18, 2004 at 4:47 pm #108309Crazy PenguinMemberYou swam 2 km in 12 minutes 34 seconds? or am I reading that wrong?
I would have thought that was impossible, you’d have to be doing something like 10 seconds a length by my calculations… which i’m pretty sure is impossible…

Sorry, 1.25 KM. Forgot that laps are measured in meters, not feet in Canada.
April 9, 2005 at 10:49 pm #108307colinMemberMan, I haven’t posted in forever, i need to come back here more! Well as some as you know, I got cut from the baseball team, and the cross country coach asked me to do CC. Well, I have never run long distances before, but I did it anyways. I have been really busy with that, and that is where I have been most of the time. A few weeks ago we had a track meet, and I ran the 800 and the mile. I got a 2:23 in the 800 and for the mile, I got a 5:35. About 40 seconds better than my old record.
April 9, 2005 at 10:54 pm #108294AwesomeSauceParticipantWow, that’s pretty good. We ran the mile last week in gym and I got 7:54, which isn’t too bad I guess.
April 26, 2005 at 9:44 pm #108323MrOatsMemberThe best time I got in Track for the Mile was 5:13… Colin, the coaches let you run the Mile and the 800? In my school district, if you run the mile you can’t do any other running event besides a relay…
April 27, 2005 at 1:31 am #108308colinMemberYes you can run both of those. There are some restrictions on what all you can run, but I know you can run both of those in a day, it is perfectly fine.
We had our district track meet a few weeks ago, and I just ran the 800 this time. I beat my old record with a 2:18! Not great, but since it was my 5th or 6th time to ever run it, I thought it was good for me.
April 27, 2005 at 3:38 am #108324m3rcyMemberwhoa! all you people are hard out atheletic.
