Quote:quote:This week is going to be a busy week in MSN Messenger Land, we bring to you the announcement of MSN Messenger 6.2 ! Only minutes ago Microsoft has changed its internal site to a new layout, after looking around we found out that the layout change is related to the release of MSN Messenger 6.2 ! And best of all we can tell you the exact date of arrival, Thursday, April 08, 2004.What’s new ? So far we only found a completely updated site, with lots of information, the new version number and the release date, but we will provide more information before you can say IamAMSNMessengerAddict!
Updates:
The new site holds a list of Authorized Users of .NET Messenger Service. The programs in this list are allowed to use the MSN protocol. For now the only allowed client are: MSN Messenger for Windows or Mac , Windows Messenger , MSN TV service , Microsoft TV set-top box , MSN Mobile , Windows Mobile-based devices, including Pocket PC and Smartphone , Windows CE .NET-based devices, including Windows CE .NET 4.0, 4.1, and 4.2 , MSN Messenger Connect for Enterprises ( IMlogic , Vayusphere , Akonix ). Programs not listed (like trillian and bots) are considered illegal.

KeymasterI’m not sure why Mess.be didn’t mention it, but you can check out the top secret “internal” site yourself at http://messenger.msn-int.com/
By the way, the download link on the msn-int site does work, but it only downloads the 6.1 installer. In other words, sit tight kids… it won’t be long! 😎
One other clarification. Trillian and other clients are not “illegal” as claimed by Mess.be. The simply are not “authorized” by Microsoft. There is a big difference.
Has anyone been able to find any new features? I can’t find anything really new.

Memberit doesn’t sound like a big update..
currently from reading the features.. it sounds unnessesary..
same goes for Messenger Plus! 3.0.. good features and all.. but none I would use…
doesn’t mean i’m not going t try them though 🙂

MemberI’m not impressed at all. Are security and stability improved at least?
Regarding the website, the Red and Orange don’t go very well with the Blue.
I am, however, looking forward to the new Messenger Plus! 3.0 😀March 4, 2004 at 6:19 pm #48774detn8r

Actually, they “kinda” did.
Quote:quote:Because the site is not intended for public snooping, here are some screenshots of the new site: Welcome screen | Download options | Games list | Feature list | Authorized Users of .NET Messenger Service | Launchsite listSince when is the internal site not supposed to be available for public viewing?

KeymasterIf it were truly internal, we wouldn’t be able to get to it. And they added that note after we posted the link here.
In my opinion, feel free to snoop!

Memberhttp://www.msn-int.com (probably still being redone) is a little different from http://www.msn.com – not much changes.
Hopefully with MSN Messenger 6.2 we will be able to talk to our AIM/ICQ friends.
