You keep talking about these bugs. WHAT BUGS DAMMIT π
March 8, 2004 at 1:32 am #48781FaizanMemberWell, I do not see the file transfer status, I do not see what emoticons, I rarely every see anything. All the writing is mashed up, and everything.
I am sure that happened the day when I was showing some php to a friend of mine, god knows what it did to my msn. I have uninstalled and re-installed it several several times but no luck. I am living with it without complaining… π
March 8, 2004 at 2:22 pm #48799optisailor2002Memberactually I feel that there is no diff at all… so if they wanna make a new version, they shud make a bigger change so that ppl will feel that it isn;t a waste of time downloading the newer version…
March 8, 2004 at 3:32 pm #48771detn8rParticipantAre you kidding me?! This is the biggest upgrade I’ve seen since 6.0.
March 8, 2004 at 5:01 pm #48763Jeff HesterKeymasterDetn8r, you must be kidding? Even Neowin.net agrees that it’s not a major release.
Has anyone seen or heard any details about the animated display pics? I saw Creamhackered’s post at Neowin, but I haven’t seen any leaks or any information to confirm that this is true (or how they will work). I’m assuming support for animated GIFs would be the easiest thing to add, but I haven’t seen anything to confirm that’s what they’re doing.
March 8, 2004 at 6:53 pm #48775detn8rParticipantI donβt feel that this would be a waste of a download. Millions of people have been waiting for the animated DPs – thus making it a worthy download. Also the connection troubleshooter would be incredibly handy for those frustrated with the new error codes. The other stuff is nice, and just a small addition. Adding back the 3 degrees’ music sharing (or something like it) is cool, and another part of the worthy download. Obliviously it would not be a big upgrade for those who would not use such things, but everyone seemed to make a big deal about 6.1, and what did that bring? Two new games, and colors to change the background.
If you still don’t agree, it’s IMO. πMarch 8, 2004 at 8:10 pm #48762Jeff HesterKeymasterFWIW, I didn’t think 6.1 was so hot either.
Animated display pics would be a nice feature, but it’s not a major deal IMO. And all the nicer features (co-browsing; music sharing) are for the MSN subscribers only.
March 9, 2004 at 11:35 am #48800bob_a_builderMemberBugs ? What Bugs ?
The massive one which means that you can Video conference with out sound (?) or Audio conference with out video.
But never the twain will meet – one of the biggest 6.x bugs going
(just look for the biggest thread on this board)March 9, 2004 at 6:48 pm #48791IMQueenMemberAbout time they brought out animated icon support. AIM’s only had it since day one…
March 9, 2004 at 8:57 pm #48780FaizanMemberIn the first beta of MSN 6.0, they had an option to save the other person’s display picture. This option was taken out after the MSNm6final was released.
Maybe they should add this back? I kinda liked it. π

Hmm… I dont remember that one..
March 10, 2004 at 1:10 am #48779FaizanMemberI am pretty sure it was there in the leaked beta. I am not sure if I was dreaming or it was actually real?!
March 10, 2004 at 2:39 am #48796DaleMemberi couldn’t get my friends to download the first BETA of 6.0… so I couldn’t try out the features… they were all like… no, I dont need it.
i had to wait for the public preview..
March 11, 2004 at 10:28 pm #48787ladie_vennomMemberFYI, messenger 6.2 will now be delayed till Thrusday, April 22.
Also, some more news regarding animated display pictures (officially called Deluxe Display Pictures), the new help files clearly tell us the following: Impress your friends with a custom, animated avatar. So this makes it 100% official. But we can even tell you how to select a animated avatar in MSN Messenger 6.2:
1. In the main MSN Messenger window, click the Tools menu, and then click Change Display Picture.
The My Display Picture window opens.
2. Scroll to the Deluxe Pictures list.
3. Select a picture from the list, and then click OK.March 14, 2004 at 11:40 pm #48778FaizanMemberI just had a long long chat to a MSN proffessional. I probably pissed him off so much. But when he started pissing me off by insisting me to believe that the internat MSN site is not theirs, I pissed him off on purpose. A very stupid conversation:

Question: Can we get a leak for MSN 6.2 Beta please?
( Faiz has joined )
( Martin has joined )
Faiz: Hiya
Martin: Hello Faiz, thank you for using MSN Interactive Online Support, my name is Martin, I will be your Online Technical Support Engineer.
Faiz: Hello Mike
Martin: I look forward to assisting you with your MSN software issue today.
Faiz: I mean Martin π
Faiz: Can we get a leak for MSN 6.2 beta please?
Martin: Are you looking for link to get MSN software?
Faiz: MSN Messenger 6.2 Beta
Martin: I understand that you are looking for MSN Messenger 6.2 beta program.
Faiz: Yeah
Faiz: So…?
Martin: Thank you for the confirmation.
Faiz: No problem, but can I have it?
Martin: Can you please let me know if is the e-mail address that you use?
Faiz: It is
Faiz: It’s the email address is forwarded to
Faiz: to is registered with passport, but the emails sent to are forwarded to
Martin: Thank you for the confirmation.
Martin: As of now we donot have any link to download MSN Messenger 6.2 beta program.
Faiz: Why is that?
Faiz: I am asking to become a besta tester!
Faiz: Beta*
Martin: It is because beta is not released as of now.
Faiz: But my numerous sources say it has been released, how can you say it has not?
Martin: I can say this because the only official site of MSN Messenger is messenger.msn.com
Faiz: If that is not possible right now, can you tell me when it will be released?
Faiz: What about messenger.msn-int.com ? Your so called secret internal site?
Faiz: Well, please tell me when MSN MEssenger 6.2 Beta will be released?
Martin: This is not a official site of MSN. Please donot install any program from this link.
Faiz: Well, it’s your so called internal site. The whole world knows that by now.
Faiz: Will there be a beta release for beta 6.2?
Martin: MSN Messenger 6.2 is about to release in the last week of April.
Martin: Faiz, I am here to assist. If I had a link, I would have definetely provided you.
Faiz: So, you mean no beta versions will be released and people who are willing to test it as being beta testers will be disappointed
Faiz: What I am asking is, can I become a beta tester right now? Because MSN6.1 has so many bugs, it does not even show me my file transfer status π How horrible is that?
Martin: In that case, please contact out specialize messenger support professionals and they will be able to help you in this regard.
Martin: Please contact them using the page I am sending you.
Faiz: Well, I am waiting for 6.2 so the bugs will hopefully be fixed by then
Faiz: Can I have some more information about 6.2 please? What else will it have? Will it allow custom animated emoticons? What about Display Pictures? Will they be animated too?
Martin: http://messenger.msn.com/Help/…ctUs.aspx
Faiz: Thanks π
Faiz: Please answer the questions I asked above too…^^
Martin: Faiz, as of now we donot have any informatin about MSN Messenger 6.2.
Martin: To get these detailed please contact out Messenger support professionals.
Faiz: But we do! The internal MSN messenger site tells us some information. Why don’t you accept the fact that it IS your internal site? Most of the world knows that right now.
Martin: Because this site does not belong to MSN as far as the information known to us.
Martin: I can accept if it is ours but there is not point in accepting when this is not a official site of MSN.
Faiz: Well, why is it that this site has everything MSN has planned to have in the future? It even had 6.0 released before people even knew about it.
Faiz: You obviously have no answer now, do you?
Martin: We get many of the programs over internet. There are even programs like MSN messenger plus. These dows not belong to MSN. The interface may look like MSN programs. But they are not the MSN programs.
Faiz: Dows is not a word in my dictionary, what does that mean? Please clearify it
Martin: I apologize for the typo. This is actually do
Faiz: Don’t diss Messenger Plus. It lets us do what MSN itself could not let us! It’s more advamced than the MSN itself. And I do admit if MSN didn’t exist, it wouldn’t have been existed either
Faiz: oh. π
Martin: Do you require any further questions?
Faiz: Yes
Martin: Faiz, to get more details about MSN Messenegr please contact our Messenger support preofessionals.
Faiz: I will but I like your attitude
Martin: This chat support is only for subscribers of MSN Internet Access.
Faiz: You know the black guy on the new MSN 6.2’s interface, is he a beta tester?
Faiz: Does he work for Microsoft?
Faiz: Can I get a job in Microsoft please? I really need a job… π
Faiz: Please do tell microsoft to set a lawsuit against the internal MSN site, which you claim not to belong to MSN!
Martin: Faiz, it was a pleasure chatting with you today about MSN Messenger issue. For your convenience and further reference, your ticket number is [spolier]150566525.
( Faiz has exited )At the end, he got tired of me and kicked me out. π
