August 14, 2004 at 6:16 pm #42104amy_d_gParticipantThere is a tutorial on how to make skins at Helpbytes, it will give you the basic idea… I am hoping to make my own tutorial, something more in-depth, and map out the xml file… I’ll get around to it eventually…:) As far as applying the skins, instructions are on my site, look at the previous posts in this topic for an example, and if you still can’t get it to work go to Cool-yahoo and download it there from the files section… they are self extracting files which means all you have to do is open it and it installs itself…

try c:/PROGRAM FILES/yahoo/shared/graphics… also depending on how your computer is set up it may not be the c drive… make sure you have version 6 of messenger…
August 15, 2004 at 8:00 pm #42131EliteNickMemberUgh…again, I’ve written a tutorial on installing Yahoo! Messenger 6 skins. I honestly didn’t think I’d have to but I was wrong. See it here. If you STILL can’t do it, you shouldn’t be trying in the first place.
August 15, 2004 at 9:45 pm #42106amy_d_gParticipantThanks Nick 😉 One thing though, when you extract one of my skins, they are already in their own folder… Let’s see how many people we can confuse with that one, huh?:(
Anyway, I finally did some pink ones… I’m not much on pink but I must have gotten 30 requests, so… here they are… Enjoy!
As before, they are on my site for now, I will upload to alternate sites in a day or so….
August 16, 2004 at 6:02 am #42054Jeff HesterKeymasterThank you Amy for the wonderful skins and for being so kind and courteous to the non-creators 🙂
August 17, 2004 at 12:03 am #42132EliteNickMemberDon’t worry Amy. I updated it to help about that:
Quote:quote:Click next and copy and paste this into the text field:
C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphicsIMPORTANT: If the .zip of the skin you downloaded has another folder in it, and in that folder has all the images and such, when you extract it, it will automatically create the folder for you.
If it doesn’t have a folder inside the it, type the skins name after the last “” to create a new folder for the skin. You need to have it so that when your skin is installed, the location is like
C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphicsSkinName, and inside your skins folder, there is not another folder. Once you have it set up, click nextAugust 22, 2004 at 11:30 am #42055Jeff HesterKeymasterAmy,
I love your skins and would like to make a couple requests if you don’t mind. Could you please try to make a rustic colored one or a burnt orange OR maybe an olive color. They are easier on my eyes. Especially the olive color. Like the Appearance style that xp has its olive and I simply love the color.
Thank you.

September 6, 2004 at 12:50 pm #42068oliezekatMemberHello… Im first volunteer of “Yahoo! Messenger Plus” free (and french) project.
Our last build (Y! Messenger Plus 1.6TR) have “Y! Skin” component which offer to preview/install/edit/save/delete skins for Y! Messenger 5.x. User need only one click to install skin from a .zip (or .yms) single file.
I will start next month new tools for YMessenger 6 skins (and in english, deutsch, italiano, etc), It will named “Y! BSkin”… But only with “install” feature from .zip (or .ysz) file…. Anothers features like Y!Skin need 6 month of programming :o(
See my post about “Yahoo! Messenger Plus” and mail me if you want to join our workgroup
