KeymasterAmy,
Thank you for the olive. I would also like to say I like the baseface color but can’t use it because of the smileys, I don’t want my kids seeing it any way to get the color without the adult smilies? If not, thanks for trying anyway .

ParticipantSnuggley, Yes I know what you mean, that’s why I don’t use it myself:p. It would probably be pretty easy to convert it, I’ll see what I can do.

ParticipantThere’s a way to change the buddy list background color
It’s not a professional way but I can get away from the white. I use PE Explorer to export png704 and png706 from res_msgr.dll, modify them by extending the right and bottom border to obtain 1024×768 for new dimension with the triangle icon staying at top left corner, fill the triangle icon and the rest wih different colors. The last step is using PE Explorer to replace png704 and 706 with the modified.

MemberBut the problem with that is…the user would first have to figure out how to unzip the skin properly (which has shown to be a big deal for a lot of people), then place the new res_msgr.dll overwriting the old properly. I wish Yahoo! could have just made it easier. Maybe they will in a later upgrade…

Memberif it can be done then why not do it? 😀 actually I have downloaded a “modified res_msgr.dll” and it changed the background color of buddylist and chatroom window. but I didn’t like the changes that it made to the “join room” window…the buttons were changed.

ParticipantThe whole problem is whatever you change it to, it would apply to all skins, not just one… you couldn’t have different backgrounds for different skins, and you couldn’t go back to the white without finding and reinstalling the original dll (therefore erasing the modified background). So for people that like to switch skins every once in a while, it would be a pain. Also some people use the menu updates patch, some don’t like it, and this is all contained in the same file. I agree with Nick, we had a LOT of people that couldn’t unzip and install a skin… I’ll just wait for Yahoo to make it a bit easier (if they ever do).
