February 8, 2005 at 10:01 pm #95808SpecializedMemberMegumi, try running a Spyware or Adware removal tool, such as Adaware SE Pro. Typically, modems do NOT block port 80, rather a piece of malicious software on the computer. Port 80 is HTTP. It is highly unlikely your modem has blocked this port, oh and if it did, then I would be curious to as how you posted this reply? =) Also, check https://bigblueball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27445 where Sjoerd outlines what to for cleaning up your PC. If all else fails, visit the IRC chat; https://bigblueball.com/forums/chat/index.php?
February 8, 2005 at 10:08 pm #95814MegumiMemberwell, i`ll try the things you listed, but i`d only like to say that i even formated my pc 2 times, and i sacn it everyday, so its not spy/adware lol
the problem is sure my modem
the funny thing is that i scanned several times and it ALWAYS say port 80 is blocked, *lol again XD*
i`m not sure if is the 80 that doesn`t allow me to connect, but the problem IS my modem, recently (- than 1 week ago*)a friend got my pc, tried to enter using another modem or something like that, i really don`t understand these stuff, and he did it, it worked =/*EDIT*and i tried, so sucess =/
February 12, 2005 at 10:58 pm #95819sunnidaze2kMemberI d/l’d and installed MSN Messenger 6.02 but when I try to log into it, this is the message I get….PROGRAM ERROR Your program is making an invalid dynamic link call to a .DLL file. Any ideas Anyone?
February 15, 2005 at 2:56 am #95809SpecializedMemberMegumi, please contact your ISP to have them check voltages to your modem(assuming its cable internet). I had a problem a few months ago where my modem wouldnt allow me to stay online for more than aprox. 5 hours. It seems that the voltages from the pole to my house were incorrect. Suggest this to the ISP when you talk to them on the phone, it may help them pinpoint or exclude a probable and possible cause of the problem. Good luck.

February 18, 2005 at 11:52 am #95810SpecializedMemberDid you try the easiest fix? reinstall? =)
February 18, 2005 at 2:45 pm #95821RandalMemberj-kill, I have the exact same problem. I have done and tried the following with no luck what so ever. I have: Restarted, uninstalled MSN 6.1, deleted all registry occurances, purged msn from firewall lists, and still nothing. I dunno about what the guy said about making a new administrator account in WinXP, and reinstalling the program there. There is a possibility that it may just do the trick. I will update once I have tried his idea, and let everyone know how it went.

February 24, 2005 at 1:37 pm #95822brucebMemberWell, as always with these things, I can only say what worked for me.
I ended up (after quite a bit of pain) finding the Norton firewall program list and noticed that I had conflicting entries for MSN Messenger. One was Permit all and one was Block all. Not quite sure how they got in there – I have not configred any special rules so I can only assume a) I was drunk one night b) my lodger did something accidentally or c) I had some malicious code which amended the settings.
of these, a) is by FAR the most likely!
I got rid of all entries in Norton and then re-ran the application and 6.2 sprang into life!
Then it configured its own access rules (for some reason I have three entries in there again, rather than one blanket ‘Permit’ but it seems to work so I shall meddle no more).
March 4, 2005 at 8:51 pm #95818oldfellaMemberIf your computer is an older model, you may need to update/upgrade its BIOS – it worked for me. If it is a Dell, go here: http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportforums
March 7, 2005 at 1:57 pm #95823PunkandemochickMemberi get the error 0x81000301 where it says there might be something wrong with the internet connection. i have Norton Internet Security, Norton AntiVirus and ZoneAlarm. if i turn the firewall off i can log into msn. is there any way round not turning the firewall off as i get a lot of people trying to hack me a lot of the time.

August 19, 2005 at 7:14 am #95784graplerMemberHi i am new to this forum and have not been reading that many posts lately so if i am repeating what someone has already said ,then my apologies in advance.
I have been using msn messenger7 for the last few months and am very happy so far , when i have the occasional glitch during sign -on , i Always check my browser ( ie6 on win xp pro ) to check that it is indeed working online . this simple oversite will stop messenger dead in its tracks. first i check my homepage then i check my mail using outlook 2003 and logging in is painless after that.
My only gripe if i have one is those outrageous and over the top smileys.
keep it short and simple is what i advocate. -
