“This film finally creates a saga out of Star Wars, and that saga deserves its recognition as one of the finest ever to be delivered to cinema screens.”
— Joe Utichi, FILMFOCUS
The last BIG movie to get ratings that high was Lord of the Rings. Don’t think this is easy to pull off. Rottentomatoes.com gathers movie reviews from different sources and places them on their website, but they don’t rate too easily. They read the reviews and then label them as either “rotten” (bad) or “fresh” (good), based on wether the critic liked or hated the movie. Once doing this, they give the movie a total rating between 1 and 100%, based on how many critics liked or disliked the movie. Most average-good movies pull around a 70%. It’s rare for a wide-release movie to ever get over 70% on RT, thus proviing that Episode III is definitely going to be good.
Some more of the highlights:

I have been to quite a few that were slated and loved the film. Also been to see some that were meant to be ‘the best film ever’ and was fighting not to nod off half way through hehe. But I will go see this one been looking forward to it for a while :0)

I just wanted to post this because many were skeptical about it being good.

Here’s something the hubby and I were wondering….do you think that Lucas will re-make the other three? My husband does not think they will….I think they might. In any event…you need to see this movie. IF you have NOT seen any of them…go to your local video store…rent them and THEN see it…it will be worth your time. 🙂
May 20, 2005 at 1:32 am #121606TigerbladeParticipantI saw it at midnight last night (12:05 am Thursday 5/19) and i was blown away. completely utterly blown away. quite possibly the best movie of the entire series.
no i dont think they’re going to remake the originals… there’d be riots. they did remaster them and change a few things, i think that’s about as far as they’re ever going to go with remaking them. lucas is taking some time off now to make movies he’s wanted to make… he’s earned it.
May 20, 2005 at 8:51 am #121617QwertyMemberNever re-make a classic. It will only end it disaster.
There is talk of their being a mini TV serious apparently. That would be interesting, probably not a veryy good idea though.
May 20, 2005 at 1:12 pm #121623gossipingraeMemberI hate Star Wars. I don’t plan on seeing this one, or any of the ones before it. I’m not into space and Yoda and Chewy and the little trash-can looking character. And I don’t know if it’s the best movie ever made. This is coming from people who thought Napolean Dynamite was good. Hardly. 😛
May 20, 2005 at 1:18 pm #121618Red DevilMemberI saw it yesterday and it was so cool! The lightsaber fights were excellent, especially the battle between Obi Wan and Anakin at the end. Anakin’s transformation to Darth Vader was amazing. I’m considering going to see it again. 😉
Also, R2D2 taking on Battle Droids was a stroke of brilliance. 😛
I doubt they’ll remake the originals. I noticed that on the DVD edition of the trilogy, some changes have been made to make the series more consistent but i think thats all thats going to happen.
Quote:There is talk of their being a mini TV serious apparently. That would be interesting, probably not a veryy good idea though. It could be good. I watched Clone Wars, an animation that takes place between Episodes II and III and it was well worth watching. It introduced you to Greivous, showed Anakin turning to the Dark Side a little more and the Chancellor being kidnapped just before the start of episode 3.
May 20, 2005 at 3:19 pm #121620Crazy PenguinMemberWell… I didn’t like it, personally I thought the dialogue, acting and plotting were all horrendous, and to be honest the action scenes weren’t great, though they were the best feature of the film.
Possibly you have to have watched the other films to appreciate it, but if that’s the best of the entire series I shudder to think what the rest are like…
May 20, 2005 at 3:49 pm #121621Ithaca1937MemberI’ve been more of a Star Trek series fan (except Deep Space Nine) and I don’t plan on seeing Star Wars Episode 3 it until it comes out on DVD. Then I’ll watch the whole series in order.

Too many of my friends are bugging me to see this movie, so I ask you guys… WHICH DO I FRIGGEN WATCH??!!?!?!!!!!111May 20, 2005 at 8:33 pm #121607TigerbladeParticipantthis is the order i’d watch them in if i were you:
The Originals – Episodes IV, V, and VI
THEN watch Episodes I, II, and finally IIIit’ll make a little more sense that way. of course you could also watch them in chronological movie order (I through VI) but i’d recommend the original release order.
May 20, 2005 at 9:07 pm #121598OreoMemberAs far as the order…you have to think…do you want to see them in the order the rest of us saw them…or in the order of actual events. You might want to watch them in the order they were released…so the “big secrets” that are revealed are more secret and have a larger impact on you, then go back and watch the new ones which will explain why you saw what you saw.
BY THE WAY…EVERYONE…this is a good time to bring up the SPOILER tags. PLEASE do not give anything away. Use the spoiler tags if you must share something. Review: these are the tags –> [spoi ler] (all together as one word) and Thanks for being considerate of others! [/spoiler]Highlight the space above, and may the force be with you! 😉
May 20, 2005 at 9:10 pm #121624princeGParticipantI just saw it tonight, I must say I liked it a lot. I hadnt watched episode II cause after i saw episode I i was disappointed, i found it very childish. I heard a lot about the third part and i decided to go and see it and it didnt disappoint me. I agree with RedDevil that Anakin’s trasformation to Darth Vader was a great a feature in the film and I’m sure everyone that had seen the old movies were very curious to know how on earth he took this form hehe.
The acting didn’t impress me but well, the whole package was enjoyable 🙂 -
