i dont know how you people can watch some but not the others. i’m not saying you have to LIKE them all, but you can’t hope to understand a good chunk of it if you dont see the whole series. it’s like reading a book but skipping chapters here and there. sure you get the general idea, but it’s MUCH better if you watch all of them. just because Episode I may have been less than terrific, you can’t skip the others.
May 20, 2005 at 11:28 pm #121605Someguy03MemberI saw it at 3:50 PM yesterday, and thought it was awesome. Everytime Yoda MOVED, the entire theater was on their feet cheering and waving their lightsabers around. I suggest you see this before you see the originally releaed 3, as Oreo is right, it will be much better if you don’t know whats going to happen.

I think the problem is that you havnt seen the original films… I admit that the dialogue and acting wasn’t great but you can’t really understand the significance of the film without watching the previous ones.
And your right, Vader shouting “NOOOOOOOO!!” didn’t really work.
And Detn8r, i agree with Tigerblade. You should probably watch the originals first, and then go to the new trilogy.
May 21, 2005 at 10:08 pm #121599OreoMemberI meant to post this earlier but I was distracted and pulled away from the PC as I was posting. This is a link that might help those of you who have not seen the other movies yet are going to see this one. It will give you all you ever wanted to know about Star Wars. There are brief synopses of each of the movies by clicking on “starwars.com” then “the movies”
Hope this helps some of you! 🙂 Star WarsMay 22, 2005 at 3:31 pm #121594detn8rParticipantWell I went last night and seen it. Even though my friends briefed me on the ride there what everything was about, the whole thing working backwards is sort of confusing. Anyway, I thought it was hilarious. Especially that little E2 (or whatever) thing. You know, that little friggen robot that controlled the elevators :p Ah man, I loved that guy. And Yoda rocks. 😀
May 22, 2005 at 4:27 pm #121600OreoMemberHmmmmm another Star Wars fan I think we have.
May 22, 2005 at 5:20 pm #121609TigerbladeParticipantyeah detn8r, you definitely have to see all the movies for yourself. your friends giving you a quick overview doesnt compare to actually seeing what happens.
and it’s R2. as in R2-D2.
May 25, 2005 at 9:56 pm #121601OreoMemberThis is something really interesting. I was apalled to hear that some one had pirated this new movie before it even came out…I mean…COME ON…it’s so exciting to wait in line and see the movie on the big screen. Anyway, the FBI and Homeland Security were even more P.O’d….check out THIS LINK It just goes to show…don’t mess with the big boys or a wrath will come down upon you bigger than Darth Vader’s on Obi Wan….
May 26, 2005 at 6:09 am #121596DJHyperbyteMemberToo bad about EliteTorrents… but I have a digital copy already anyways. 😉
I watched it last night… the movie rocks. Period. 🙂
May 26, 2005 at 10:37 am #121595sciencefeelingMemberNot that I didn´t like it…but I didn´t think it was that great. I like Yoda though, he does rock.

The story is so great, but god lucas needs to stop directing.
*VH1-esque: Downgrade*
The whole movie was missing something…it was such a great storyline, but the problem with great stories turning into movies is this: In order to give a darn about the characters, you need character development. And the entire basis of character development was in the first two movies, so they plop you in the middle of this chaotic plotline that’s crammed entirely too tight for a little over two hours, then expect you to really care what happens to anyone. *shakes her head*
They never developed this great relationship between Anakin and the Chancellor, which bugged me, they didn’t give enough time to Anakin and Padme’s relationship, and what little time they got just made it seem cheesy and fake. Mace Windu was stiff and cardboard like…as was Obi Wan *sigh* The only actor who showed any real emotion was Yoda. And this is an extremely emotionally based movie! It’s all continuously about this horrible struggle, inward and outwardly…an they didn’t do it justice. The ONLY scene that really showed the immence pent up emotion was when Obi-Wan went off on Anakin at the nearly last scene, the last bit of their battle. -That- was a great scene.
They jammed too much into too little time…they needed to redevelop some of those old feelings of connection to the characters, not just jump into it like that. I’m sure that if they chose a better cut off place or if the second and third movies were somehow watched in sequence, that it would be better…but as a singular movie…I was seriously unimpressed.
I watched it to finish the story, and that’s all.*Upgrade*:
The movie is visually stunning. It is seriously one of the most striking films I’ve seen in such a long time…it’s…astonishing. And like I said before, as everyone knows, Georgie Lucas is a great story teller, so the plot is wonderful…it’d be a great book…but it made a lame movie.May 26, 2005 at 5:23 pm #121602May 26, 2005 at 10:48 pm #121610TigerbladeParticipantRabidKitten wrote:They never developed this great relationship between Anakin and the Chancellor, which bugged me, they didn’t give enough time to Anakin and Padme’s relationship, and what little time they got just made it seem cheesy and fake.i agree with that. In Episode II there’s a brief line by Anakin to the Chancellor, saying something about how the Chancellor’s guidance had helped Anakin so much, more than his own patience. That’s about as far as they go to mention that the two have a friendship. In III they mention a tad bit more, but nothing striking enough that I remember the context or the lines. You get the general idea that the two are fairly close, but that’s it. Of course, they had a lot of material to cover in not a lot of time, so… there have to be scenes that never make it to the final product.May 26, 2005 at 11:43 pm #121603OreoMemberMaybe they will do what they did with LOTR and release some “extended” versions…that would be great…I know that we only bought the extended LOTR DVD’s because they were SO much better than the cut versions and made much more sense and followed the books a bit better.

Are the extended versions really worth it? Im thinking seriously of buying them. I hope they are as addictive as the cut versions 🙂
