MemberIf this is such a big deal to were u would start a petition, and it causes so much harm, why don’t you file a law suit? LMAO, you said theres other chat clients, ytunnel isn’t a client, its an anti-booter, and it’s not just an anti-booter, it works along side yahoo messenger, which is by FAR the preferred chat client in yahoo, it makes yahoo messenger a better chat client by 10 fold. Theres a lot better things to start petitions for, save the whales or something. sheesh
And i thought i had a lot of free time on my hands.

MemberWhat the heck? I posted in this topic, and it got deleted! I said something to the degree of:
“To yeah_right: You’ve made your point, now shutup. Some of us probably think you are a lunatic now, and we will make our own decisions.”
Was that regarded as breaking the rules so you deleted it without warning me? I mean, if it’s wrong you might as well tell me so I can not do it in the future.

ParticipantI do stand corrected. You are right It is NOT a chat client. It is an anti-booter. And there are other CHAT CLIENTS out there that are better anti-booters.
lmfao as for the comment about too much time on someones hands. Yea I do have a lot of time on my hands. But you what .. when you stand for something no matter how tedious it is to others you will stop at nothing to stop it.

Mr.Curlynose1,
Check your email! You posted a reply on this BUT in another Topic! I emailed you when I deleted that post over there. There is no way to move a reply post. The Mods can move a originial post but not move a post someone has replied. Do homework before you post dear.August 19, 2003 at 7:56 pm #91834Mr.Curlynose1
MemberOh I’m sorry, I didn’t realize this guy had made 2 topics on this. Thank you :D.

MemberPeg,
We understand you feel strongly about this. We here at BBB support the fact that each and every person is open to thier own opinion and choice. Yours is not to use it and many others is to use it. Thats all we are saying here. Yeah Right has proven himself to not understand us saying that to him and persisted to push his point. Leading members to respond the same. As I and others have said what it comes down to is “Thank You for your opinion and respect mine” to Yeah Right. Peg on a personal note I know it must sadden you that the ones who have chose to support and promote your petition are mostly the booters. Yes some of us have been around for years and hear, listen and know. I wish you luck and be careful as animals have a tendancy to bite the hand that feeds them.August 19, 2003 at 8:09 pm #91858Attitude2Quik
ParticipantI am not here to push my opinion on anyone. And I do respect the fact that so many people do stand by what Chet is doing. To each their own. No worries from me!

ParticipantAttitude2Quik – Thank you for your reasonable and well thought out opinion and for letting us know what you stand for and why. I think you may have cleared up some of the issues many of us were trying to get answered. I myself may not be convinced yet, but at least you presented an intelligible response, and i can understand your reasoning behind it. Welcome to the forums. 😀

MemberPeg, you’re not the only one to write huge pages of info about why chet is wrong, my attention has been drawn to booter sites which contain a lot of hatred against chet – the kinds of sites that are a pain to have removed from the net, even though the openly pack viruses into stuff. Sorry if you are not one of those, but like i said, you’re not the only person making a complaint.
I have kept my opinion of how good Y!Tunnel is out of my posts on this thread, but I have explained on other threads why it is by far one of the worst methods of boot protection.
I have however posted my opinion, and other facts, of how it doesn’t break copyright/trademark (read my posts, nothing has been copied from Yahoo!, the issue is hacking into the yahoo! server), and how it’s the users choice if they wish to use it. We all use and pay for different stuff. If you say their is a copyright issue with your friend, he should get a lawyer and sue him, or better still, release some info/code so that everyone can make their own versions, which would make chet’s life hard.
I read your petition argument the other day, someone was spamming it in a Yahoo! Chat room (which doesn’t help your cause). Basically, I see the idea is that you are fighting for Yahoo’s right to display ads, yet above you say people should use other clients. Those clients don’t display ads either.
I think it’s good there is a basic Y!Tunnel. People get it for free with nothing to lose, if they think its great, they pay and upgrade, there is no false sence of security here. People know what they are getting. I see myself the support for Y!Tunnel doesn’t seem to be existent these days, I get many e-mails directed to my website asking for help, which I cannot give. This could be an issue of people using cracked copies though. I would also say chet always planned to charge even though he said it would always be free, the betas always timed out, now if the software is free, it makes no sense for them to time out like that, it was an early way of ensuring people couldn’t use older, free products.
Anyone is free to right a page and upload to their space, get it indexed by google, and let people read a review of Y!Tunnel, obviously bad reviews probably don’t exist on the website.
If he is breaking his host’s TOS, which is off topic here, report him to his host, hosts are quick to deal with accusations because they can be held responsible for the stuff hosted on their machines.
As for the petition, I don’t know who you plan to give it to.
This debate started with yeah right who was trying to force his opinion quite openly on others, you have said you don’t care, which is good. In the end, people can read all sides of the story, then decide for themselves.

Memberrookie here – sorry for the “intrusion” – i have been told that y!Tunnel and similar programs give a messenger user COMPLETE anonylity, in that no one can tell they are present in a room, they can “travel” virtually anywhere with no other user knowing it, and can have their IP address completely blocked so that no other user can “see” them.
the TRUTH here???
and also – despite the fact that you need a 60″ screen to view some of these posts, i get the impression that y!Tunnel and its kin might not be totally above board …
the TRUTH here?>>
thanks

Member60″ screen:O Sorry, my posts tend to get a little too long.
Hide IP address? Yes, Y!Tunnel can stop p2p sessions taking place, but Yahoo! will have the IP, and may send it to another recipient in some circumstances.
As for go in rooms unknown, I don’t believe this to be truthful at all. Gotta rememner all y!tunnel does is monitor and modify packets, it can’t make the yahoo! server do these things.
As for the legal issue, read this thread from start to end!

Memberwell its kinda simple if chet can write software that is against the TOS then every one else has the same right you cant have it both ways……but if ytunnel presists to ad block eventually the companys who pay money so we see there advertising will stop paying and chat will go away when it stops making money for yahoo they will drop it………..ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY IN THE END

MemberOkay well here’s my opinion on the matter. First off if Chet had broke the TOS, I think that by now Yahoo! would have done something about it (which they have not). Ytunnel doesn’t remove the ads from messenger right off the bat. The user of Ytunnel selects “remove ads from chat rooms” from the Ytunnel preferences. This in of itself does not break the TOS, until the User decides to remove the ads, then the TOS is broken. The fact that Yahoo! has done nothing to Freddy for his Ad Remover just shows how much Yahoo! really cares. I can offer some insite as to why they don’t care. The following is conjecture and speculation, and is not backed up by any facts:
- How many people use Yahoo!’s services? My estimation is somewhere in the millions
- Out of those several Millions of Users, how many use Messenger? Probably a good percentage…say 75%?
- And out of that percentage (whatever it is) how many users remove the ads on messenger? Lets just say several thousand.
- Ok, so if you only have several thousand users out of many million users who remove the ads from messenger, then the vast majority of users still have the ads in their messenger, and Yahoo! gets its justification from those users.
However if more and more people remove the ads from messenger then Yahoo! might do something about it. But, personally I don’t see that happening, as Yahoo! has much more important things to deal with.
Now as to why use Ytunnel? I’ve used it for quite sometime, and I think it has some interesting features, aside from boot protection. Now as far as boot protection goes, Ytunnel works fairly well in my opinion. There will be nothing that can offer 100% boot protection until Yahoo! decides to fix the coding of their software. As for the people signing this petition to oust Chet and Ytunnel. I don’t see anything coming of this, unless Yahoo! does something or someone files a lawsuit against Chet. I say if you don’t like Chet or Ytunnel, quite simply don’t use it.

MemberSeveral thousand ads. I would bet that the actually number would be far greater than this. If I am a regular user I do not want to be bothered by looking at ads, pressured to buy something I do not need, nor be annoyed by the clutter, and neither do I want to think about any spam/ad/spyware to clean up afterwards.
This thread makes me laugh, really. Seems the people most upset with this program are:
1. The booters.
2. People who are confused on the service that ytunnel provides. The service is performed only on the end user, between Yahoo and the user. The program DOES NOT physically touch or reside itself whatsoever the yahoo servers at all, in essence, your basic proxy.
There are things that could had been put into ytunnel to eliminate the current problems that yahoo faces at this time, some needed fixes, but these problems reside on the server side, and not on the user end. Chet declined in adding in a lot of features because they might had or could have touched the server end.
Ytunnel is in the legal right-of-way here and only working on the client side issues and NOT the server side. There is a limit on what ytunnel can and cannot accomplish and this has upset many numbers of people who have purchased the program or are using the free basic version, but ytunnel is playing within the rules of not getting involved in what is Yahoo’s property, which is their servers.
Booters, bots, and floods are the direct opposite and act right on through the Yahoo servers themselves and then directed at the user. The lockouts are not caused because someone is using Ytunnel, these are caused by programs that flood your main ID and locks it. There are a few of these account lockers run via looping method and do have the capability of restarting a 12 hr ban if so desired to. This initially is sent through the yahoo servers and then forwarded to client. I had been banned myself, 11 days it had taken to break free from it. No IP change helped in my case or clearing of residual files, and a restore of system will not fix it neither. You have to notify Yahoo about it and hopefully they can walk you through it, odds are less likely though but it doesn’t hurt nonetheless to contact them.
Yahoo is a free service to the general public. They are not going to be as apt to patch up things swiftly with their chat servers when other things of concerned are in their interests that will lead to more revenue.
I had made a program some time that would auto-send emails via my own made client at prescribed times, one message per 2 hr alotted time minimum, just for convenience sake. I was sick and tired of copying/pasting and sending manually through outlook, built my own program to do it all for me. Should have seen the auto-replies I received back from them, lol. I have a whole tip repository on the things I cannot do because I’m banned by IP.
Ytunnel respects the property of Yahoo-inc. Yahoo is not going to sue anybody. Ytunnel has celebrated it’s year anniversary a month or two ago and ytunnel was known then as well.
Please take time to read this:
Legal issues and rumors
http://support.ytunnelpro.com/index.php?cmd=showcat&cat=60After doing so you will see that ytunnel is a legitimate program and no one is getting sued by anyone in this whole thing.
When Uberchat come about, Chet will be able to provide more than he ever could with Ytunnel, why you ask? Simple, because it will be HIS SERVER and he will be head controller under the hood. Chet has not done anything malicious to anyone. I have studied his program and it is safe, no key-loggers, no trojan horses, no external background servers., no booters. People like to make up stories when someone is either just jealous at the fact that one man has done, and all ready fiigured out long ago, how to fix their mess, or because booters are upset that their new, and old, toys do not work as they use to or at all. That petition is probably the one that has existed since last year, lol, Old as my late grandmother’s underwear. I don’t need to look at it unless I really am in need of a good laugh.
Last Novenmber Chet tried contacting Yahoo to aid them in helping them out, did they ever respond back? I’m guessing probably not.
My view on it is that instead of downing Chet, you should be downing the booters, crackers, and wannabe’s who are doing illegal actions. I give that guy a lot of credit for he has done and of his intentions. pay more attention to the threats out there and be glad there are programs available to minimize them to a degree, whether they be firewalls, anti-virus, or whatever. These provide the services to act on net and program data as well so they are just as guilty I guess.
Yahoo needs a cattleprod somewhere to get them more motivated, it just isn’t happening.
Well, off my soapbox. Thanks for hearing me out.

Memberi still see people talking about ytunnel like it is legal to run its not and its not copy rightable software i went to my local state college and asked an english prof and a computer science prof about copy and basically what chet did would be like writing a new end to a book and using its name with out the authors permision..u cant add even a proxy to soft ware that u dont own and yahoo messenger is owned by yahoo not the person who uses it..but this is pointless any way using ytunnel now makes it easter to get booted it doesnt help as yahoo has changed the protcals and all tunnle does is close things that would be blocked by messenger itself slowing your computer down.
{EDIT – Please refrain from childish name calling. We respect your opinion, please respect others.}
