For instance, I have 3 bad points. One was from when I was participating in a game, (I believe it was “Ask a Question) to which I replied, “I don’t know, I wanted to ask my question.” Of course, someone gave me a bad rep saying I was stupid. Cool, that’s real mature.
Two of them were for posting my drinking stories. So if someone is against drinking, they should penalize others who do like it? That’s wrong.
There are a lot of opinions of others that I do not like, but I’m not going to go around and bash someone because they like to use LimeWire instead of Ares and call them stupid, or whatever the topic may be.
I have a general idea of who gives the bad reps to me. But it really doesn’t bother me that much, because I like it here, regardless of what others think of me. It’s just a shame that people have to go and ruin the fun.
Yet you still show up as green because your posts are good and three points “don’t mean a thing.” No one else can see how many negative points you have. Like Shifter mentioned above…if you think some one is seeking you out to make you look bad, we can do something about it. 🙂
Hmmm, this appears to be the de facto official thread for discussing the “Reputation” feature… so….
Are any comments I might put in the reputation window anonymous to the recipient – i.e. can they see it was ME that commented – or not ?
And further, I gather the recipient does see which thread gave rise to the comment, but not which exact post. Is that correct ?You are correct. They see what thread you are giving them a reputation over, not the exact post if they posted more than once, and the comment you chose to give, if you gave any. And they won’t know who gave them the reputation.

If you go into “My BigBlueBall” and click on the topic name, it will take you to the specific post. If you want the person to know it was from you, then just add your username at the end of the comment… if you don’t – no worries, it’s all anonymous.
I have a few questions though. What does the little gray blip mean? (See pic – the one by the “Yahoo Messenger v6.0”) I know green=positive, red=negative, and then maybe the gray is even, as in 1 negative and 1 positive? Also what shows up under “latest reputation received”? I thought maybe it only showed up when someone left something in the comment field, as my total points has always been more than the number of reps showing, but then the latest one (again, the Yahoo one) didn’t have a comment. Is there any way to see all of the posts that I have gotten rep on?
i’m not 100% sure, but i think grey just means zero. so yes i guess either equal numbers of good and bad, or just no rep received at all.
