ParticipantI think Yahoo just put out a new build today, 1444, but when I install from the Messenger page, it’s still just the old buggy 1441 🙁

ParticipantQuote:quote:Originally posted by browneyes078Are you noticing as many problems when sticking with 5.5 and chatting with people who have the new version? I’m still getting as many if not more yahell problems as when I downloaded the 5.6 version (unrec’d messages, deleted offlines, etc).
I’m getting all these problems too, including that “Delete offline messages” prompt. Maybe I should just stick with 5.6 and wait for the big fix, rather than search for the old 5.5 install, since you’re saying the problems will persist anyway?

ParticipantYa, I’m getting the same crap. Missing messages, delayed messages, and I’ve also gotten that alarming “you’ve been logged out cause you logged into another machine” error too. I changed my password immediately, but got the same error again! I was afraid somebody had my password or was messing with my account. That particular error was last month, but the missing and delayed messages happen all the time with 5.6.1339-1341. Yahoo’s gotta fix their fukup.

ParticipantThe separate windows don’t bother me as much as the DELAYS. Sometimes an hour will pass, with no new messages, then I’ll get a pile of OLD messages from the same person in separate windows. And it seems that some of these old messages are lost in cyberspace.

ParticipantI am having the same problems, detailed in Optimist’s thread on offline messages. I suspect it’s a bug with 5.6.1339-1441, and hope Yahoo gets on it, and puts out a 1442 that fixes this mess! I used to think that Yahoo was a superior IM to Aol, but Aol’s not having these problems.

ParticipantAlso, the symptoms and behavior is the same whethere I Connect as Proxy or Firewall No Proxies.

ParticipantI have been having these problems also, and am relieved to see that I am not the only one, because I thought maybe it’s only a problem on my end, maybe with the network here. I OK’d the prompt to upgrade a couple weeks ago, to 5.6.1339, and have had problems ever since.
The symptoms I observe is that I’ll chat with somebody for 10 minutes, exchanging messages, then there will be a 30-45 minute delay when I recieve no message, then suddenly I’ll receive 5 separate windows from my Friend, and the last message is usually like “I guess you’re busy since you’re not replying”.
This happens every day, in almost every conversation for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I wouldn’t call these “offline messages”, because I stay online, but there are these periods of silence followed by a queue of old messages. I’m not sure, but I suspect that I am not receiving all of these old messages too; that some are just lost in netspace.
I reported these symptoms to Yahoo, and they asked for my ypager.log file, which I submitted. Subsequently, I upgraded to version 1441, Windows Updated, and scanned for malicious applications with ad-aware, but the problems persist.
I wish that on the Messenger download page they would say what version it is for download, so we can check if its newer than the one we already have. The only way I know to check if there’s a newer version is to go the Feedback form, and check the drop-down list for versions, and see if there’s a higher one than I have.
