MemberOk, so I was bugged by the valididity of my own answer and decided to check out the above by creating a new username. It seems I was not totally correct because you can only use numbers or letters for a new ID. Well, it has been a while since I signed up with yahoo.
Anyway, the fact is that people do use letters and symbols for their username but how I dont know. If someone out there knows I would be very interested in knowing the answer. I still think Im half right though, about the html, but I just need to find a way of getting symbols into a yahoo ID.
This ones gonna bug me…….I can tell!

MemberIts me again. I have made a couple of typos…..damn! Well Ive had a late night, thats my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
the following code should read (), minus brackets of course. Try it in ur own IM box and you will see what I mean

MemberOk this is a diffcult one and I’m only taking a best guess here. But it is possible to type html code into a yahoo messenger box and it will appear blank with only the username showing. The html simply dissapears, e.g. a person with Xyz ID could type in the following: ().
I have added the brackets just incase it dissapears from this post but the recipient would get the following message from the user Xyz:
Xyz:
So what if the user typed html code as his username then it would simply dissapear. Would it work? I dont know cos I havent tried it, but like Isaid, its just a best guess.

MemberLuke have you looked in the mirror lately and seen what a sad little looser you really are. If you don’t have the balls to talk to people, make friends and ask to see their cams legitimately then you dont deserve to breath the same air as the rest of us.
What does it say about you as a person If you have to view peoples cams by dubious means…..I rest my case.

MemberWell this one seems obvious to me but maybe I’m missing something. just highlight their name in your freinds list and then right click on their name and then go to join user in chat.
This only works if they are actually in a chat room because when you are in a room you are visible to all in the room. If however, they are not in any rooms it wont work I’m afraid. Its the best I can do, sorry!

MemberI find Yahoo totally fascinating at times. sometimes I can send files without any trouble and sometimes I can’t send anything. However, the last time I read up on the maximum file size, the limit was set at 1Mb.
Zipping files does not really compress them by that much so I dont think this is a viable option for really big files. what I do is to split large files into smaller pieces, of 900 Kb each, using a program called WinRar. It should then be possible to send files via messenger and when the user gets all the file pieces, he/she simply clicks on any one of the parts and hey presto you get the full file.
The only downfall with this is that the user that gets the smaller files has to have WinRar installed. However, I prefer to send things via email anyway cos I have found that sending certain files by messenger corrupts them.

MemberNo you aint lucky. I get the same thing to. It appears to show their other ID’s when they log on and off actually its quite handy really when you think about it. If I ever bump into that person using that name I will know who they really are which gives me an advantage really.
I think it may, but I havent checked it out, be something to do with one of the settings in Y-tunnel. Something about cloaked ID’s, maybe. I’ll get round to checking it out one of these days!

MemberI’ve read all the posts about y-tunnel and I’ve got to say I agree with johnson. The fact is, that any windows based pc will expose open ports to the internet. Period. If people are worried about security, which they should be, they should make sure that they have a good firewall intalled. I will never surf the net without one.
Anyway, I decided to test y-tunnel out on a site that I use to check my firewall and indeed, have checked out a few firewalls out on this site. So the idea being, that if I had Y-tunnel running and carried out a port probe on my machine, any failings in Y-tunnel would be exposed as I would get a negative result on the test. Having previously carried out the test without y-tunnel running of course.
On both occasions I got a clean bill of health with this test. Talk of open ports is just scaremongering by people with little or no knowlege of internet protocol. I’m not setting myself up to be an expert in these matters because I’m not. but I do take the trouble to find things out for myself before I post scare stories.
