Hey, I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem! I noticed the other day that it looked like my friend signed off on my buddy list, but when I looked up their profile, it showed them as online. I was upset at first, because I couldn’t understand why they’d go invisible on me or use a stealth setting. I ended up seeing this person the next day though, and it was fine.
Tonight I thought I’d give it another try. My buddy list shows this person as offline, but their profile shows up as online. I called up some of my Yahoo address books that have their id in it, and every two seconds it changed – first offline, than online, than offline, than online, etc. I don’t know what the deal is, but it sucks. I also have buddy spy and used it when it said they were online, but it showed them as offline, and I’m beginning to think that is true, especially since it sound slike other people are having the same problem.
Sweet, thanks! I just did a scan on the person in question. It showed their status to be offline, not in the chatrooms, and the webcam said skipped. What does it mean when it says webcam skipped?
Would he be able to put me on permanent invisible if I was never added to his list? I was thinking he would’ve had to add me in order to do that?

Oh, one more thing. After I created the fake id and he wrote back saying he didn’t recognize it, even though he still appears on my contact list (and he didn’t add me to his list), will it still give me an accurate online status for him (i.e. online, offline, webcam, etc.)? Anyone know how that works? Can I keep logging in under the fake idea to see if he’s really on, or will it always appear as offline to me?
Thanks! It’s funny you say that, because right after I posted my message, I tried that. I made up a different user id and I added him to my contact list. The message said that he was offline, but when I sent a test message, he replied and asked who I was because he didn’t recognize the id. My question is, when you add someone to messenger, does it always appear that they are offline after they have been added to someone’s list, or will it show that they are online if they truly are? It would appear as though he was in invisible mode, since he replied to the fake id, but I’m not too familiar with it to know. I guess I can assume he did not use a Stealth Setting on me since he appeared offline on my list, too.
